At first a VHS Tape was stuck in the machine. After numerous attempts the tape ejected successfully. Now when I switch on the VCR, there is some tick, tick-sound in the Mini DV player an it then switches itself off in approx 12 seconds.

I was wondering if you tryed unplugging vcr for an hour then
plugging it back up. sometimes this resits it and it will work fine.
the tape might eject itself out or eject button might work.

SOURCE: JVC HR-DVS3 Mini DV/S-VHS VCR time code problem

time code problems may be the result of tape path alignment, but since you have the same problem with five decks, don't overlook the possibility that the tapes themselves may have defective or non-existent time code. check to make sure the device that recorded the time code isn't malfunctioning.

SOURCE: MINI DV TAPE WON'T LOAD

First power off the unit, then remove the DV's tape housing , power up the unit, and allowed the mechanism to go back to the unload mode, make sure that the tape posts are at unload mode. then unplug the vcr back again, put back the tape's housing in the load position (tape in) power the vcr back on and push eject button to reset tape mechanism.

VHS tape will not eject and unit shuts down

It's not loading correctly. You need to open the cover (unplug first) and get familiar with the loading mechanism. You can get the tape out by rotating the loading motor wheel.

Vhs is stuck in machine. Won't play and won't eject.

There are any number of reasons why it won't play. The loading basket is jammed, the video tape has got tangled up in the mechanical section of the vcr or the loading gears are stripped. Unplug machine and remove top, [screws side and back] if the tape is spewed carefully remove by cutting it and clean tape particles, for any other problem have a technician check it out.

I got an LG VCR GC980NW (MG 64) VHS VCR. I've wrongly pressed both the eject and play forward button at the same time. After that, the VCR shows both the 'EJECT' message and 'No Tape' signal, and then...

It is possible that the mechanism is out of mode as the front cassette loading mechanism and the tape forward loading mechanism have gone out of sync. Now it is important that the MODE of the system control is in the correct parking.
Hence I feel that the VCR must be opened and the mechanism reset-ted. Make sure that the tape loading has come back to the correct parking and also the cassette loading has returned, other wise remove the mechanism and reset.

I have a Sylvania 6240VE vcr. When I try to rewind a recorded tape, the vcr ejects the video. I was wanting to purchase a dvd/vcr combo, but the reviews for these items are awful. I tried a Magnavox combo....

When you put the player into rewind, is it at the beginning of the tape that it ejects? If so, it may be because you have the machine in timer mode. If you have a pre-recorded tape in a VCR, it will automatically eject the tape because you`ve not to record on a pre-recorded tape. I hope this help, Ian

I'm guessing the "black thing in side" is referring to the actual tape itself- ribbon like which can be spooled out of the tape case. If so, then your VCR may have a mechanical problem of some sort, which results in a "no tape transport" or "no tape takeup" problem. If the latter, the right reel (takeup reel) is not being driven. Older VCRs often used a small rubber rimmed drive mechanism to drive this reel. Newer VCRs (10 years old or less) pretty much use a gear drive. Something may be broken here, or perhaps the gear is stuck. This gear assembly has to swivel back and forth, from left for rewind, to right for takeup or fast-forward. Unfortunately, you can't see the gear once the tape is in the machine, at least not from the topside. Suggestion: Take the top cover of VCR off, look for this gear, and see if it swivels freely, look for broken gear teeth.

VCR won't take tape

Is it ejecting the tape when you set up for timed record, or any record mode for that matter? If so, check for the presence of the record lockout tab in the tape. If tab is there, machine should accept it. If machine ejects tape with the tab present, then the sensor which detects tab present or absent is probably afoul. this sensor is often a small switch. This tab, by the way, is on the backside of the tape, on the left, looking at the tape from the back.
