Question about Apple iPod classic MP3 Player

IPod Classic 80GB Won't Sync More Than 1.7 GB/Hard Restores Itself for No Reason

So a few days ago I noticed my iPod acting funny (freezing, skipping songs) but I didn't think much of it. Then, when I plugged it into my computer, EVERYTHING deleted itself for no reason. I had TV shows and movies that were not backed up and I lost them all. Now, when I try to resync it, it reaches 1.7GB of music (out of my 5GB), freezes iTunes and then hard resets itself so that the music is all gone. The memory still shows the files exist in the iPod, it's just listed as "OTHER" which I think means they got corrupted so they don't register BUT they're still there. It's the same process over and over and I've tried restoring it/using other computers, but to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem??? Please help.

It sounds like there is a fault with your hard drive. Reformatting your iPod disc might solve the problem. You can do this by right clicking on the iPod drive in My Computer, selecting format, and doing a quick format in Win32. If the problem continues then it will mean a new hard drive to solve it.

Ipod classic 7th generation won't sync

Step 1:
With iTunes software, iPod users can manage their media libraries, purchase or import new content and synchronize their devices. The software has a number of convenient features, one of which is AutoSync. This feature will cause your iPod to automatically synchronize with iTunes immediately upon connecting the device to your computer. You can also set up iTunes so that you can manually sync your iPod.

Press the "Shift" and "Ctrl" keys on your computer keyboard simultaneously while you connect your iPod to the computer using its USB cord. Mac users will press "CMD + Option" while you connect. Continue to keep the keys pressed down while you monitor the iTunes window. Keep the keys pressed until you notice that Auto-Sync has stopped and your iPod icon has appeared in the Source pane of iTunes. Be patient, as this could take between 5 and 30 seconds. Right-click on the icon for your iPod in the Source pane, and then select "iPod Options." Click to put a check mark in the "Manually manage songs and playlists" check box. This finishes your task and you can now manually synchronize your iPod whenever you wish by simply clicking on the "Sync" button.

I have an apple i pod classic. 80gb. when i plug it in to sync new albums onto it, it freezes prior to finishing the sync. i then have to disconnect it as it will not eject and reload all my albums. this...

the only thing you can do is replace the hard drive. If you can not do this your self i would recommend you sell your ipod on ebay and specify the problem you are having. You will get about $50, and you can put that money towards a new ipod

I dropped my ipod classic 80 gb. It can't be detected when i sync to my computer. I did a hard restart but it it says that my files will be deleted when i restore it with itunes. I dont wanna lose my files...

The only way to save the files is by connecting it to pc and storing them in a file. Try checking the usb connection inside the ipod. If there are any broken wires or solder joints, re-solder them or anything you can do to get it to connect.

Try connecting it, go to control panel, the ipod should be able to found on the I: drive.

My Ipod classic 80 gb is frozen and won't turn on or charge!! HELP!!!!!!!

If it keeps happening (and your hear clicking or repetitive sound from inside) you have a broken hard drive. Open the iPod classic and replace the hard drive. The part is available on ebay. Here's a guide on how to disassemble an iPod classic. Maybe a tech savy friend can do it for you. If you want to pay to have a service do it for you there are third party iPod Repair Services.
