Panasonic PT-AE900U projecting black vertical lines on image

Hate to tell you this, but the PC board in the projector is gone. Had the same problem with my 3 year old AE900. Sent it to panasonic and the engineer told me i needed a new board. The PC board along with a new dynamic iris (which i already knew i neeeded) was going to cost £672 (inc labour). It wasn't worth fixing as you can buy a new 200 for about the same price.

If you still have your warranty - then your sorted. Have to say the Panasonic engineers who are based in Cardiff were very helpful when diagnosing and explaining the faults.

My Panasonic PT-AX1000U projector has a problem with automatically shutting off after about 30 secs. I've read on the avs forum that this is a problem with the iris. Can you help?

take off light cover take out light there will be the iris arm on left hand side of lens put a small dab of oil on q tip very small amount put it on arm stay away from lens at all time use a small tool to move arm up and down a few times until it unfreeze`s that should help you out if not it could be the timer on bulb if so reset bulb time by going to option bulb time and hold down center key on remote for 3 seconds hope this helps

Lamp is shutting off on PT-AX100U projector after 3 minutes. Must cycle power to get it to turn on again, at which time it will stay on for 1-3 minutes and shut off again.

You can PROBABLY eliminate the lamp as the source of your difficulty then. The buzzing puzzles me, but without being there, I don't reallt have a guess as to what is causing it. Here's one thing you can check, after the lamp has cooled, pull it out and check the lamp socket for any sign of corrosion, arcing carbonization, etc on the socket. Could be that the socket is arcing after the unit heats up. It's a long shot, but worth checking.

Well need to know about how many hours the set has run, becuse it might simply be the lamp, the other problem or problems could be if a fan is stoping or the color wheel is stoping this will shut the set down, so fire it up and listen to it for any diferant sounds
