Ps3 Problem after problem after problem.

Ok let me tell you my problem. I get on my sweet ps3 and i am playing for a while. My ps3 is fine at first, for the first 7 months. Of course i am only playing CoD4 because that game just kicks but. And heres when the first problem comes in. Although this is probley my internet, i have wireless, ever time i quit a game and go to the main menu i get log off. Some error ocures. But that just the first problem. My second problem happend when i bought mercenaries 2 world in flames. Now my ps3 won't read any disks at all! I got so mad about that i just couldn't handle it any more. Or sometimes it would work but freeze in the middle before i could set up a game. I called ps3 network but i can barley hear what they say. So now i think i am getting a box sent to me. But i only had 1 year wornty on it so i am lucky because i have 2 more months before it over. Can you Solve my question please? I know it alot to read but it intresting. Tell me if this stuff has happen to you please!?

Yes, the disk read problem is VERY common. These lasers are failing at an epic rate. Unfortunatly nothing is perfect. The Xbox is plagued by Disk Errors and system failures as well. Thats good that you got Sony to send you a box. Thats exactly what you should have done, and what I advise people to do if their system is under 12 months old. I hope you get a good one back. Good luck and happy gaming.

I can't play online ps3 games

it could be what type of router are you using? Are you able to sign into the playstation network? You could try setting up a static ip address on your ps3 and setting it as a dmz server. This will open up all ports for your ps3 and should enable you to play games. It should be a workaround for upnp. If you tell me what router make and model your using i can tell you how to do this.

60GB PS3 will play PS1 and PS3 games but not PS2.

this is a problem with some ps3's especialy the high GB ones like mine. they made it so most if not all of the ps2 games cannot be played to cut down on price and to leave room for all the memory. so you can still play ps1's but you cant play ps2's. sorry

I have a PS3 40g. it was working fine. now it wont even play at all. there is power going through. but no picture or sound comes through.

I'm sorry but there is only one smart solution to this problem. I would send it in for repair. It shouldn't take to long, it's a lot faster than Xbox's repair for sure. PlayStation's number is 1-800-345-SONY.They can tell you how to send it in.

Hope that helps. If I did help, please rate me.

Thanks,

Here’s what’s going on right now: something with the PS3’s internal clock has borked in some pre-slim models. This is not a PSN issue; it has to do with your PS3’s clock. This clock is NOT related to the OS clock. It seems to be a leap year bug. Setting your clock ahead will do nothing. All PS3s around the world were affected at the exact same time.
Does this affect me?
-If you have a Slim PS3, you’re good to go. Continue playing it as normal.
-If you have a “fat” PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged.
What does this bug mean?
-If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync.
How do I fix it?
-You can’t. Even if you don’t sign into PSN, it won’t help. This is a hardware issue.
So, what do I do?
-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the “bugged” day. On Monday around 6pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves…maybe.
-If that doesn’t work, we’ll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now.
Did I lose my data/themes/etc?
Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They’ll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they’ll be fine if you’ve synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now.
If I have a bugged PS3, can I still use it?
It’s probably not a good idea, as I have no idea what will happen to the trophies you earn during the bugged time. Movies/media will work fine.

My PS3 won't play PS3 Games. It plays ps2 and DVDs. Won't play PS3 or Blue Ray Discs. Is the blue ray drive knackered?

I called Sony and they helped me resolved this same problem...

1. Turn off the ps3.
2. press down on the on/off button on the front of ps3 while turning on the button from the back. DO not let it go until you hear 2 beeps and will show a red light.
3. press the on/off button again and do not let it go until you hear 1 beep, paused, and two beeps. Let it go.
4. There should be a prompt asking you what to do. If you have hdmi, answer all the question yes etc.
5 there should be a menu list asking what you need done.. setting wise..

6. Choose the # 3rd list (not sure how many they were).
7. IF it tells you that your data is corrupted etc.. just click ok
8. wait till progress ends ( if it tells your your data is corrupted again, just click ok again).
9. It's going to do some loading again...
10.. end of restoring and you should see your ps3 menu..

Hard Drive Corrupted?

pkennedy624

If you are getting the corrupted drive message and the built in PS3 options are fixing the drive then you will have to pull the drive and format it externally with a computer. The link below will help you do this.
