Question about Televison & Video

Samsung 40" LCD HDTV #LNS4041DX/X Upon cold start-up (either by remote or by using the power button on the LCD set), the power blinks, but the TV does not respond. After depressing the power button slowly several more times (by remote or the LCD power button), the set finally does respond (very irritating). Once the LCD is finally on and running, the set functions normally.

I the same problem and I found that the Capacitors used on the power supply portion of the circuit board were leaking and/or bulging. These parts were failing and as a result the problem worsened with time. If you are able to remove and solder new parts on to the circuit board follow the following procedures. Or get a technician to do the repairs.

1) Make note of connections at back of TV.

2) Unplug power cord and other connectors from back of TV.
3) Remove back of TV with a Phillips (+) star shaped screw driver.
4) Note the position of all connections to the main board.

5) Remove circuit board taking care not to damage any of the components.
6) Locate parts CM806, 811, 812 & 817, all 1000 Samsung 40" LCD HDTV #LNS4041DX/X - a3a1093.jpgcitors.

7) Remove and replace parts with capacitors of equal physical size that are (1000 uf ). I would recommend a voltage rating of 25v or 32v. 8) Reinstall and reconnect the circuit board.
9) Replace back on TV and setup the unit as before and you’re done.
10) Enjoy!

I replaced the parts for just under $10.00.

The problem is that the processor inside your tv has gone out/ you will need to get it replaced but until then you can unplug your tv every night and it will turn on correctly in the morning or whenever you decide to turn it on again. By unplugging the tv, it has time to restart itself instead of sitting in standby mode all night long. The problem may have been caused by a power surge or fluctuation or just by age. If it is a power surge problem i also suggest getting a surge protector so that this does not happen to the next tv you may get.

Count the number of blinks. Now, Google your make and model with the words blink codes added to the end. This will show you links to sites that will tell you what the blink code means and the problem with your set. The blink code is the sets way of telling the service man what is wrong. From the sound of it, you have a bad capacitor.

3 year old Samsung 40 inch LCD TV will not turn on

The problem is 4 capacitors on the power supply board. Just had mine done under warranty. They (Sears) replaced the whole power board but you can get larger capacitors and just replace those for alot cheaper if not under warranty.

Clicks on and off several times before staying on

The power supply will sense if the set is 'drawing' too much current and switch itself off. This could be the case here. The power supply board may eventually go completely bad.

Same problem with my set. The volume was either fully up, or fully down (usually down), and other controls didn't work- like I couldn't access the menus and could not adjust the width of the screen/aspect ratio.

I lived with it for about six weeks, then took the back off the TV. Just now it seems to be fixed, but I don't know if it will last.

I disconnected the wire leading to the channel up/down, volume up/down and source board, turned on the tv, turned it back off, reconnected the cable, and everything seems fine now.
