Question about Air Purifiers
Unit is plugged to the wall but it does not appear to be taking a charge. (The light which would normal be lit when the unit is charging is dark.) I have opened the top and bottom and it appears that all the cables are in contact with all the proper connections.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

hmmmm... maybe it was on fire... Barring that,
One thing to be aware of is how these things work: they don't actually filter the air. Rather, they electrically charge dust/dirt/etc. particles in the air as they pass through. This new charge makes them attracted to walls, floors, objects, etc. So rather than straining or filtering dust from the air (like a more traditional air filter), they make dust more likely to stick to walls, surfaces, etc. so that you can then wipe them up.
If there is something in the room that is manufacturing air pollutants, it could cause the problem you're having. The most likely culprit is anything that makes smoke. For example: smoking (duh), or burning CANDLES (especially scented candles) or INCENSE.

The arcing sound comes from a loose fit. You may have to bend the contact bar so it fits tightly against the unit.

Testimonial: "worked like a charm, thanks"
This is a common problem and if it's still under 1 year warranty, contact Ionic Pro at 800-875-8577 for a replacement that will cost you $20 for shipping to/from.
The high-voltage supply has died and cannot be repaired by the average repair person as parts just are not available.
When they get these back, they go into the trash and send you a new one.
TO PROLONG ITS LIFE, plug this into a surge protector as the electronics that are in this don't have any protection against even a small surge.
