SOURCE: dishwasher won't start

jamcdani Most likely the problem with your dish washer is bad key pad. It is not repairable and has to be replaced. Whirlpool does not sell it separate and you have to by the whole console assembly. The price range is between $95 and $115 (different colors) and it is not very complicated to replace it. I can help you with the complete step by step instructions and, if you provide the complete model number of your dish washer, I get the part number and the best price for you. Gendos post back...

Dear friend,

The blinking lights are called codes and this is warning you that there is a technical problem. Probably an electronic failure some where. This can only be diagnosed by a trained service tech!

SOURCE: Error flashing and won't reset.

hi there,

PF stands for power failure. the first you should do is check your house breaker and make sure that you did not trip the fuse.

Does anything run? Can you hear the motor running? If not, you have no power coming into the machine. In this case it's the main control board that needs to be replaced.

If the motor hums, it means you have power to the d/w, in that case you need to replace the touchpad.

thanks

No sign of life to our 5 year old D/W except flashing "CLEAN" L.E.D.

7-1 heating circuit problem control programmed to shut down machine when no rise in water temp during heat cycle, you either have an open heating element or wire burnt a shorted thermistor or a bad control not outputing 120VAC to the heater you can reset the control by placing the machine into diagnostic hit cancel button to turn off all the lights press heated dry-normal, heated dry- normal within 6 seconds lights should come on press cancel unit should start it will run till same part of cycle reached and lock out again if it has not been removed the little black panel below the door remove should have the tech sheet in a plastic pouch which explains how to check the components mentioned earlier,

I am trying to start a cyle and everytime i push the cycle button it does not light up and the quick rinse button comes on and flashes nothing works at all if i push heavy wash it comes on and nothing...

You haven't told me how many times the light flashes, but I will take a guess that this is an error code associated with the water entering the machine being too cool. I believe the machine expects the water to enter at 110 degrees F (43 Degrees C).

To clear the error, press "Heated Dry" then release, then press "Normal Wash" then release and repeat this sequence until all the lights on the machine go solid green. Once this happens, hit ""Cancel" and the machine will reset.

The fix for the root of the problem is to increase the temperature of the incoming water in future (Turn up your water heater temperature a little)

Clean light flashes constanly. Won't clear out to start new cycle

If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, then repeats...

When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).
