Not sure on that model but if it has a visible switch it's near to or underneath the hinges, the right one usually.

Your laptop model is on recall.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1842189&docname=c01300427#c01300427_dv20

Its a loose graphics chip. seems like laptop companies dont ever learn. nVidia is taking the fall now. Before ATI was the problem.

SOURCE: hp pavilion dv2000 lights switch on but boot or

Hi

Thank you for your query

Please try the folowing

1) Remove ALL wires and then press and hold the power button in for approx 20 seconds

2) Plug everything back in and then rerty

This may sort the issue out however from what you are descrbing, if there is no boot or display it is highly likely the motherboard and/or the CPU is faulty

I would recommend that you book the PC into a reputable PC repair shop if the above does not work

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

My system hp Pavilion dv2000 its updated lastnight after system audio not working please solve my Problem

try re-installing your system audio driver. can you specify what model your laptop is? I hav e a dv2000 series laptop also, but its model is dv2202ca. the model is located on the bottom of your laptop.

go to this site:
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_lang=en&h_cc=us&cc=us&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_pagetype=s-002&h_query=dv2000

then select the proper model, then choose either xp or vista, then look for "Driver- AUdio" and download them, then run the files to re-install your drivers!

If You want test lid switch, just connect A+B together for a monent!
If the monitor flashes on...? Lid switch is faulty.
It is too dificult to change the lid switch, so the easiest way is connect these pins together forever. :))
