Have you tried to copy and paste them? If it works and you no longer want them in 'my pictures' then go back and delete them after they have been moved. I always back my photos up on cd or dvd before i move or change them just incase they get lost.

Picture project installer cd

Nikon retired Picture Project years ago, replacing it with Nikon Transfer and Nikon ViewNX. You can download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software from
http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

You might want to consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

Can't transfer pictures from camera to pc

francis5262, Have you first installed the Nikon software to your PC before connecting it?  You may be using Picture Project, after you install it, try shutting down the PC and restart it, if you installed it correctly and the projects folders you created are there now when you connect the camera should recognize the camera and ask if you want to download the images to the folder you selected.  One more thing check for updates for the software too. randy320sgi

Get a usb memory card reader. I have never ever used the cord from camera to pc. It's so much easier to just take out the card.

re instal the driver as it may be corrupt, or simply go to my computer, right click, explore and you should see your camera as a drive, right click it>explore and then there will be folders same name as the camera>explore and the pics will be in there, select them all slect cop, then go to the folder you wish to kepp them in and select paste.

NIK0N coolpix l3 movie transfer

The movie should be transferred automatically when you transfer the images from the sd card. There should be a folder where the pics are transferred, usually through a program called Picture Project. Look for an icon with the Quicktime logo on it or a movie logo. That should be it.

you could try uploading them with a different program. Also on the camera monitor make sure the transfer symbol (squggly line with arrows on bot ends) is on each picture.
