How can I get my hp to scan and send it to the hard drive

I have the same problem using the HP Document Viewer. I am telling the printer/scanner where to send the file, it doesn't show up until the third or fourth attempt. When I try to rescan I get an error that says "The application is currently in use or unavailable. Close any programs and try again."

After closing all the programs and turning off the printer/scanner it still doesn't work without rebooting the PC 3 or 4 times.

Scanners normally give you a choice of sending it to a program or a place on the harddrive. If you are using the windows options to scan this shows you a page with where it will send your scanned image, you can change it from there. If you are using the printers software to scan look through the help files within the software to find out how to do this.

When I go to scan to the computer, I get an error message no scan options, it has worked before, I did have a new hard drive put into my mac, what can I do to get it to work,

New hard drive sounds like the "HP Printer Prog" is corrupted. If you have transfered all data from the old to the new there is a possiblity it failed to transfer all info.

Save yourself time, unistall and reinstallthe complete version from www.hp.com downloads, your mac version printer prog.

Good luck

Peter.

The HP Officejet 8500 asks me to "select computer" when I attempt to scan.

The reason for this is that your printer can't just scan to itself, as it does not have any memory or hard drive space to store the scanned page(s).

You will find it is much easier/better if you run the scanner from a computer using a program that can process the scanned image, eg: Photoshop, PaintshopPro, etc...

That way the printer knows where to send the scanned data.

Hope that helps.

I am trying to scan a document from HP 4280 All-in-One printer HP Solution Center to My Documents. However, I am unable to type Destination (My Documents) in the Scan to. I have reinstalled from the CD...

Generally, the scan to field will designate the the type of program that you want to use to view/edit the document. An example would be microsoft word.
Once you scan the document to a program, you can then save it in any folder on your hard drive, including "My documents". However, if you chose to leave the scan to on "Scan to a File", the scan will automatically go to c://useraccountname/My Documents/my scans.

You can then go to my documents/my scans and move the scanned document to whatever location you would like on your hard drive.

If you have any additional questions about this information, feel free to contact my by replying to this message.

Thank You,

Brian

I cant scan a document in my computer

During a normal installation of the HP All-in-One software, the following events occur:

1. The HP All-in-One software CD-ROM runs automatically.
2. The software installs.
3. Files are copied to your computer.
4. You are requested to connect the HP All-in-One to your computer.
5. A green OK and check mark appear on an installation wizard screen.
6. You are requested to restart your computer.
7. The Fax Setup Wizard (Windows) or Fax Setup Utility (Mac) runs.
8. The registration process runs.

If any of these things did not occur, there is most likely to be a problem with the installation. If the essential icons (Scan Picture, Scan Document, and Send a Fax) do not appear, your installation might not be complete.

If your installation is incomplete, you will need to uninstall and then reinstall the software. Do not simply delete the HP All-in-One program files from your hard drive. Make sure to remove them properly using the uninstall utility
provided in the HP All-in-One program group.

HP C6180, File is too large to send after scanning

Hi

You may check the resolution of the scanned picture, lowering down the resolution to some extent will not damage the quality of the scanned image, also it will lower down the file size to great deal and this should help you send the fax without any issues.

try it and get back to me for any assistance

thanks

I have a HP PhotosmartC4500 All In One

Open up the HP Solution Center, select your printer if necessary and click the Scan button. It will provide an interface where you can select all of the necessary scanning options including the capability to prep it for transmissivion via your default e-mail client. This doens't work for webmail accounts. In that case, you would need to scan it to a file on your hard disk, then send it as an attachment.
