SOURCE: Big Black not printing

Sounds to me your print head is plugged up. This is not usual though because the majority of people use black ink much more. So, in your printer utility, do a deep cleaning. If that does not work, there is a thing called a purge unit in it. This is a usual way of draining waste ink to a pad that soaks it up. if the hose, or other parts are clogged, it backs the ink up and causes the print head to clog. If this is the start of it, do not waste your ink cleaning, and try not to let it sit too long. Contact canon, and let them kno what you think it is.

Go to this site and download the Jet Snippet software. It will substitute the clogged ports with better ones. May have to run it a few times to work.

Problem with section numbers not being linked in a word document that I'm updating using word 2007. The original document was created with an earlier version of Microsoft word.

When you create or open and edit a (.docx) document in Microsoft Word 2007, the Save As option gives you the opportunity to save it as a the (.doc) document in the formats of older versions of Word.

If it is not already too late, try to recover (using the AutoRecovery function built-into Microsoft Word 2007) , the earliest and most error-free version of the document in question you can recover and then use Save As, rather than Save to make an experimental copy of the document in an older Microsoft Word format.

Another option to consider is to download and install the free Office Suite Application Open Office, which can open, edit and manage many Microsoft Office documents and then copy and paste the most error-free version of the document in question into the appropriate Open Office Program and then see what sort of job the Open Office Word Processor makes of handling the tricky formatting.

For the future, as a general rule, whenever editing any document that contains complex formatting, always remember to start by copying and pasting the text of the original document into a new blank document (remembering to close the original document so you don't accidentally toggle between the two). Then your experiments could be conducted on a copy of the document, rather than the original, enabling you to repeat the method and continue creating experimental copies freely, until you have developed a workable strategy for dealing with the formatting issues.

Furthermore, remember to always use the Save As function, giving the experimental documents distinct and varying names (test.doc1, test.doc2, test.doc3 etc.) so you can keep track of your progress in mastering the formatting issues, then each document you save, is a copy, leaving the original document unchanged and available as a template for further experimentation, if necessary.

Tip

Copying Text into a new Document

Whenever the need arises to copy an entire document or a section of text, clicking CTRL+A (or selecting the section) and pressing CTRL+C to copy and CTRL+V to paste, often ends with a corrupt document or problematic one. The simple solution for the issue is to select the relevant text and click the Left Arrow button once while the text is selected. NOTE: the last character selected is usually a character return mark. This simple trick makes sure the last character return is not copied. <br /> It works. Icom1

Epson All-In-One only copies on one side, prints fine from computer.

You try to copy a document and it only has print on one half of the page (left side or right side). Then you try to print from the computer and the unit prints fine.<br /> <br /> The two processes use different parts of the all-in-one in when copying or printing. <br /> <br /> When you print from the computer all the information comes from the computer and only the printer section of the all-in-one is used and it sounds like there is nothing wrong with the printer section. <br /> <br /> When you copy something you are using the printer section, plus the scanner function and possibly the document feeder section. If you are like most of us you put the document in the document feeder and press copy. <br /> <br /> If you are only gettting copy on the left side more than likely one of two things are happening. Some units use a double lamp assembly, one on the left and a similar lamp on the right. If your unit has this setup one lamp could be defective or not getting power. <br /> <br /> Most units have just one lamp the entire way across the page. It is located under the access panel for the document feeder. If this is your unit you could not get the problem you have with a bad lamp. You would have nothing on the page. <br /> <br /> The second possibility would be a piece of paper or perhaps a label stuck on the document feeder, under the access panel, blocking the light path. This is easy to check. Open the paper jam access panel and look for any paper or labels or foreign material in the feeder and clean it all out. <br /> <br /> If you do not use the document feeder but instead place the document to be copied on the glass under the cover you are using a different part of the unit than what I talked about previously. Now you are using the lamp from the scanner bed. <br /> <br /> I do not believe that I have ever seen a scanner lamp which did not go the entire way across the page. This would mean that you could not have the problem described. Again you would not have anything on the page.<br /> <br /> If you check everything I have just mentioned and do not find any problems, such as something blocking the light path or a bad lamp, then the only cause could be a bad memory board on the scanner board. While this could be changed if you have electronic experience, it would be very difficult and beyond the scope of this tip to attempt to explain the process. <br /> <br /> Given the low cost of most units now it may be more cost effective to purchase a new unit.<br /> <br /> Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.<br /> <br /> hardrocko

Epson stylus cx3650 only copies left side of page , ok when printing off from computer

beimejohna,

The two processes use different parts of the all-in-one in when copying or printing. When you print from the computer all the information comes from the computer and only the printer section of the all-in-one is used and it sounds like there is nothing wrong with the printer section. When you copy something you are using the printer section plus the scanner function. If you are like most of us you put the document in the document feeder and press copy. This is an additional section being used. If you are only gettting copy on the left side more than likely one of two things are happening. Some units use a double lamp assembly, one on the left and a similar lamp on the right. If your unit has this setup one lamp could be defective or not getting power. Most units have just one lamp the entire way across the page. If this is your unit you could not get the problem you described with a bad lamp. You would have nothing on the page. The second possibility would be a piece of paper or perhaps a label stuck on the document feeder, under the access panel, blocking the light path. This is easy to check. Open the paper jam access panel and look for any paper or labels or foreign material in the feeder and clean it out. If you do not use the document feeder but instead place the document to be copied on the glass under the cover you are using a different part of the unit. Now you are using the lamp from the scanner bed. I do not believe that I have ever seen a scanner lamp which did not go the entire way across the page. If you check everything I have just mentioned and do not find any problems then the only cause could be bad memory on the scanner board. This would be a difficult problem for you to solve and even diagnose. Given the low cost of most units now it may be more cost effective to purchase a new unit.

Line down side of document when copying - changed cartridge but this did not help used cleaning mode this did not help

Might I assume that you are using the Automatic Document Feeder(ADF) to make your copies?

Put a document on the Flat Bed Glass and copy it. I bet there is no line. Lift up the copy section so you can see the glass. To the left is a thin glass. Clean it. Glass cleaner and a lint free cloth.

Try your copies again. They should be good
