push down gently on the arm and reach around to the rear of saw with your right hand and pull retainer pin the arm should release and allow usuage of your saw.

unscrew the handle in the front to change, also I would recommend going to Makitatools.com and typing on your model number to download a users manual for this tool, it would be helpful to get the most out of it.

Hello. The guard does not have to be taken apart when changing the blade. Here is the link to the Parts Breakdown of your unit. It should show what you need to know to reassemble your saw.
