Re: CD Player Not Working

You could take the unit apart and clean the lens with some rubbing alcohol. Or thy running a lens cleaner through it. But most likely the problem is a bad lens assembly and if this was not an expensive unit it is time to replace. But only disassemble if you know what you are doing.

CD player doesn't work on Timex Indiglo Radio Sounds CD player. No manual available. Can't use.

I never have seen this model but guess it's similar to any other CD-Radio model. You can download a manual from here

It should have a switch to select CD player.
Once you select CD player, open CD lid, insert a CD and play
If won't play, CD player is defective and if you don't know how to repair it you should take it to a repair service and evaluate if it's worth to reapir.

Cd not working say disk not workable

Make sure that you are using a proper audio CD - some players will not work with computer DATA disks, especially re-writeable disks.
Those that do accept computer disks often only like one format either R+ ( and RW+) or R- (and RW-). Most do not accept both.
If your system will not work with any disks, including proper professionally recorded CDs then try purchasing a CD cleaning disk (a computer CD/DVD drive cleaning disk will work okay). It is like a normal CD but with a tiny little brush mounted on it, which will clean the lens of the laser unit as the disk spins.
You can also try cleaning off the lens by opening the lid of the player and using a small paint brush (dry) to remove any accumulated dust.

After a few months, the CD player stopped working. It doesn't spin, and it shows "no" in the clock display

Each CD Player has a potentiometer to adjust the laser assembly alignment. The T609t CD player has a tiny pot of 2000 Ohms (2K) about 1/8 x 1/8 of an inch on a tiny printed circuit board right under the laser assembly. I tried adjusting its value with no success. The wiper was not making contact with the carbon layer below it. I removed it and soldered in 2 wires of 6 inches to work out of the box. I attached at the end of the 2 wires a small printed circuit board of 1/2 x1/2 inch to solder a new pot of 1000 Ohms in series with 50 Ohms resistor. I started increasing the pot value until about 700 Ohms and immediately the Player showed 01 on the display and started to play IL DIVO songs. Obviously after each new setting of the pot I had to repeat the same routine: Power off, power on, hit Play, see No CD message on the display until I found the right initial value on the pot. I still had to tweek it up toward 750 Ohms because it was skipping a bit of song number 8. It is working fine now.
I taped my mod, tucked it in the box and closed the whole thing until the next time it will go out of alignment.
The pot I am using is bigger (3/8x3/8x1/4) it takes 44 turns of 180 deg to sweep it from 0 to 1000 Ohms. The old pot is swept from 0 to 2000 Ohms in one turn of 120 deg. The 50 Ohms resistor was for safety in case I hit 0 Ohms on the pot. I kept it in the mod in case I want to hook a scope.

The cd player is not reading the discs. The read out flashes and blinks but it does not read the music off the disc.

Try removing the cover and clean glass laser eye lens with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab. If cleaning doesn't work, then laser lens circuit will need to be tested and replaced. You can use an ohmmeter to test the capacitors and circuit.

CD player stopped working on Sony ICF-CD831 PSYC Clock Radio/CD P

I've been able to prolong the life on mine by doing this:

Insert the disc, then spin it by hand and quickly close the door and hit play.

It's always worth using a laser cleaner first, as it may just be dirty and stops spinning because it cannot read the disc.

CD player not working

CD Player on my Bose Wave radio/cd just blinks CD and it appears to me that the disc is not spinning. This is the same problem that many others have already identified. I unplugged the unit and removed the battery but this did not solve the problem. I notice that there is a "platter" (part of the lid) that sandwiches the cd onto the spindle. the platter seems tight but does turn. Also, does anyone know if there is a drive belt that may have broken?
