Absolutely Yes!! Go to the Acer Suppoert Website and Enter Your System Information. It will bring you to Your Model's Support Page. Click on Drivers & Downloads. From there, you can update all the Most Current Software & Drivers one-by-one. When you are done with that, it would be wise to, at that time, go to the windows update website and manually check for current updates as well.. That should take care of the issues at hand, and bring your system up to date. GREAT LUCK TO YOU!! Lucky4lynn2 p.s. Please take a moment to rate my Solution if you would.. Thank You.
go to Dell.com........go to drivers and downloads.......check to see if there is an update for the media center from them if there is download and install. When media starts up just reduce it so that you don't shut down in order to get any updates for media center. If Dell doesn't have one try Windows updates and see what updates they have for your system. If you have any questions just ask and I will answer as soon as I get it.
Ok. Thirst thing. Check the label on the bottom of your laptop to check which version of windows your computer was fitted with in the beggining .It should be either Home SP2, Professional SP2 or Media Center Edition with Rollup 2. Then get your hands on a CD of the EXACT SAME version. Also take note of the Serial Number. You will need it later. (This all is so you will not have problems with Windows activation).
Now, the real work begins.
First, backup everything you need from your C: drive. Restart your computer, enter BIOS Setup and set your CD/DVD drive as the first boot device. Exit BIOS (when it prompts to save, say yes). Your computer will restart and ask you to press a key to boot from CD. Do so.
It will load windows setup, and at a time will appear a screen asking if you want to install, repair or exit. Choose install. From there the rest is self explanatory.
Good luck P.S.: If possible, download all the drivers from the ACER website:
