Try this approach to fix the printhead problem:1. Open the printer cover > remove the ink tanks > open the printhead latch > remove the printhead > close the printhead latch.2. Visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark Pro700 Series Firmware Update.3. After the update is successful, open the printer cover > open the printhead latch > re-install the printhead > close the printer cover > if no error appears, continue with normal installation steps for cartridges. If error still appears, try to remove and re-insert the printhead firmly.
4. Try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.
Should the error persist, it could be that the printhead itself is faulty. If that's the case, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance.

For the HP C5180 printer, I suggest you first activate a CLEAN PRINTHEAD routine from the TOOLS/MAINTENANCE menu to see if you can blow/suck ink down and thru the PRINTHEAD nozzle plate. You may also need to place a damp cloth under the printhead to help \'wet\' the nozzle plate in an effort to remove residual black ink can find some youtube videos on how to do this. For additional HP02 support information, please visit our HP02 system support page which includes videos of procedures below:

If you observe an INK SYSTEM FAILURE message then the permanent PRINTHEAD may be electrically damaged (unfortunately it is not replaceable; you can verify this by performing the following):

To bypass INK SYSTEM FAILURE message please see the HP Printer Diagnostics Tests file (pdf) for instructions:

Verify the permanent built-in PRINTHEADs electrical performance inside this legacy printer model by running the TAP 43 diagnostic test (either one of the procedures below applies to all printers which use HP02 or HP363 ink cartridges): For additional HP02 support information, please visit our HP02 system support page which includes videos of everything mentioned below:

Barcode scanner won't read printed labels

1. The printhead in your printer might be scratched (evidenced by thin white streaks through your print). This is common, and the most likely cause. Printhead must be replaced.
2. Material might be stuck on your printhead (usually evidenced by wide white streak vertically through print). Printing surface of printhead can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol and cotton ball.
3. The ribbon might be wrinkling due to uneven tension, producing intermittent diagonal streaks in your print. This is somewhat common, but doesn't fit your description as well as 1 & 2 above. Mechanical adjustment and/or proper media loading solves ribbon wrinkles.
4. Poor pressure and/or printhead alignment. Evidenced by grainy, light or no print on one side or the other of the media. This is somewhat common, but doesn't fit your description as well as 1 & 2 above. Mechanical adjustment solves printhead pressure and alignment issues.

'wrong cartridge'

You need a new printhead. Difficult to find for this old printer. Not cheap (100 EUR). Think you better get a new printer.

I have just changed my ink cartages &the printer says I have a printhead problem

The error can be the result of firmware code, printer contacts or the printhead itself failing. There is a firmware update for your model that addresses this problem. Please follow the steps below on how to successfully update your printer.
  1. Open the printer cover to remove the printhead. The carrier will come to the center automatically. Once you've taken out the printhead, close the printhead latch and close the printer cover.
  2. Proceed with the firmware update. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark S600 Series Firmware Update.
  3. Once the update is complete, re-insert your printhead. Close the printhead latch and check for errors.
  4. If no error appears, open the printer cover again to re-insert the cartridges.
  5. If that doesn't help, I would highly recommend that you contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance

I have performed the cleaning A & B on my printhead for my IPF710. It doesn't help. Is there a way to manually clean the printhead? I don't want to have to buy another printhead at $600+.

If there is a way of removing the print head try soaking the head part in a saucer of freshly boiled water! it is a simple method but extremely effective. Just be sure not to get any water on any contacts.
Soak it for about 2-5 mins depending on how clogged it is, and dont let it soak to long and the water go cold, it will re-block the head!!!
I hope this helps Regards GM

My lexmark interact s605 is saying that i have a printhead error. and i follow the instructions on the screen to pull the printhead out & clean the contacts & it's not helping. also i have...

I have the same problem with my S605!! Although it is 18 months old.
Reading various blogs on the internet, this seems to be a common problem. Other users reporting it to Lexmark seem to get replacement printheads, sometimes more than one. Others get their machine replaced!
After having read all these negative reports my advice to you is to return it to your vendor and ask for it to be replaced with another machine from a different manufacturer.
Lexmark machines seem to have a constant ongoing problem with their printheads (for years).
Sorry to be so negative but you and I have bought ourselves a load of trouble.
Good luck

How can I change a Printhead?

that completely depends on the model of printer.
If printheads aren't available for your printer where you buy your ink, there's a good chance you can't replace the printheads.
Most lower end printers (under $150) don't allow printhead change because it's more cost effective to buy a new printer than replace the heads.
if printheads ARE available for your printer, the instructions on how to replace them will be included with the replacement heads.

Xerox Phaser 8560 displays the following error message when connecting the equipment 07,009:42:155474 What is the solution to this problem because the site of xerox found no reference to this error I...

This is out of the service manual. Generally you can just remove the sides and home everything and it will work fine.

The 7,007.49, 7,008.41, 7009.42, and 7,010.43 errors indicate that the
Printhead was unable to tilt normally on its axis. Possible causes include:
■ The printer was powered off in the middle of a cleaning cycle and the
Wiper Blade has frozen to the Printhead.
■ A Drum Maintenance Camshaft lobe is broken and holding the Drum
Maintenance Kit’s oil roller against the Drum when it should be retracted
to its home position.
■ Process Drive not being aligned correctly.
■ A damaged Printhead Restraint.
■ Ink spilled in the Roll Block preventing proper Printhead motion.
■ Ink or other debris under the Printhead preventing proper motion.
■ The Wiper Assembly not being aligned correctly or ink spilled in the wiper
■ The Head Tilt Gear not being homed correctly.
■ The X-Axis Motor nose cone not being installed correctly.
■ The ferrite torrid on the Printhead interface cable has slipped behind the
Printhead causing the Printhead to bind when it tilts backwards.
■ The black plastic shroud on the back of the Printhead is snapped off and
binding the Printhead when it tilts back.
After servicing the printer, manually set the following assemblies to their
home position before powering on the printer. See Section 6 for
instructions on setting these components to their home positions.
■ Printhead (tilted forward and disengaged from Printhead tilt gear)
■ Head Tilt Gear (disengaged from Process Drive train; arrows on left
frame point to each other)
■ Wiper Assembly (bottom of travel)
■ Process Drive (holes on Transfix Camshaft and Drum Maintenance
Camshaft line up with marks on frame, large gears within assembly
line up with holes in Process Drive housing)

Cleaned C5180 but will not print in black

Try running the cleaning process a few times. If its still not working, buy another black cartridge and stop refilling it with cheap ink that can easily clog the internals and complete cease function. If its already clogged, it will cost more to fix than the cost of a new printer.

Thank you !!
