Try checking your power settings by right clicking on an empty space on your desktop and choose properties. then select the screen saver tab, then clik on the power button, on the power scheme settings, select 'never' on each box then click 'apply' and 'ok'
hope this helps!

Your inverter board might be going bad. Google your laptop model and should be able to find a replacement inverter board.

Toshiba a135 laptop screen goes blank during battery use. only way to recover is to put the laptop to sleep blinking orange, and then restart. This action keeps the screen on. Could this be a bios problem?...

You indicated that this ONLY happens when the battery is being used and does not happen if the power supply is being used. This indicates that battery may very well be the problem.

More clarification ok? Do the following for me:
  1. Go into the Control Panel, and then Power Options
  2. For POWER SCHEMES, select never for each one
  3. For HIBERNATION, turn off hibernation
Charge up the battery some and then go ahead and remove the power cable and operate the laptop by battery alone and tell me if it is still going blank and after how many seconds or minutes.

If it is NOT, then I want you to go back into the POWER SCHEMES, and for TURN OFF MONITOR, go ahead and select after 5 min. THEN do the following two things for me:
  1. Wait for 5 min and see if it will turn off the display after 5 min or not.(note that this is after 5min of inactivity)
  2. After testing that, use the laptop as u normally do and tell me if it is still shutting off and tell me how long before it does
Please note:
These are two different tasks. The first one is testing to see if the software is working as u told it to work. The other test is to see if the laptop will still shut off even if there is no inactivity.

Let me know the answers to these things... so we can take it further from there...

Laptop Screen goes blank

Are you running on battery or AC? Try using the power cord, remove the battery and see if it continues. I have seen a battery that is on its last legs do some weird things to a computer. Also, check your power management setting. Control panel, power, and set the computer to "always on" just to see if it could be a power management setting. If none of this works, i would back up all your files, and try to reload win xp from scratch.

Dell laptop screen goes blank when ac adapter plugged in

I believe I have found the problem with the 1525 that I am currently working on which has the same problem that you describe. Ultimately I think it's a problem with the inverter in the LCD. When the laptop is powered by battery the brightness is lower than full. When I plug in the power adapter the brightness goes to "full" and I hear a faint sizzle and the LCD's backlight goes off. Same as if you hold the Fn key and press the up arrow to brighten it, it will do the same thing when you reach near the full brightness. So for now I have fixed this problem by going in the Power Options and clicked on Adjust the display brightness on the left. Slide the slider to the left on the "plugged in" part and now when you plug it in it shouldn't make it go blank. I do want to note that I hear a faint buzz coming from the LCD when I plug it in. That must mean the inverter is faulty. WAY TO GO DELL!!!!!!

Fujitsu c series labtop screen goes blank, the hooked up to a monitor, starts to work then says out of frequence and goes blank

The video resolution and/or frequency that's set in windows is not supported by the monitor you have plugged in. Restart the PC in VGA mode (hit F8 after the BIOS messages but before any Windows messages) and change the video settings to something basic, such as 800 x 600 @ 60 Hz. Then restart the machine normally.
