SOURCE: PD-DVR100 DVD Tray will not open
I am having the same problem. Sometimes, unplugging the unit works, but only after multiple attempts. However, recently, it didn't work at all after several days of unplugging and replugging the unit in. After doing some research with other brands experiencing the same problem, some of the solutions suggested pressing the open button and record button @ the same time. I tried it, and It didn't work; however, when I pressed the center of the "source/record" button, it opened! Thank goodness, because I had a DVD in the drawer and thought I was going to have to tear the thing apart to avoid buying it from Blockbuster. Hopefully, my discovery will work the next time I experience the same problem. If not, it's going in the garbage!!!

Does the program allow for "auto back Up?" if so I would look in the folder of the original file and look for one closely named but probably with a different extension, if it exists rename it a different name than the original and with the proper extension. then try it. If not you have probably lost your work due to improper closing of the file when your computer crashed. You could try the manufactures web site and look for a corrupt file recovery tool of some sort. Sorry I could not help more.

t needs to be realigned
remove dvd drive (4 screws)
remove power cable to dvd right rear of unit on circuit board
(squeeze plastic connector and pull up)
remove ribbon cable CAREFULLY wiggle it from side to side and it will come up
Then with drive removed, open up drive to access the bottom near front door
Once open you will see a smalll motor and a white pice of plastic that slides. with tray closed slide that piece of plastic as far towards the middle as it will go
with that slid all the way over you should be done.
close it up and be carefull sliding the ribbon cable back into place
