You can only switch carrier by loading the phone with adequate BIN and PRL files. Each company working on CDMA technology, has typical files. In Canada, the Samsung has strict control over the software and this is done by the authorised tech support companies who are in contract with the Bell, Tellus etc. through Samsung Canada.

When phone is switched on the screen reads "input

Hi,

Improve the Fixya.com experience for everyone by voting!

Let me give you a little background and then some solutions. This is generic because I don't know your carrier. I'm using ATT as an example.

Phones are naturally unlocked, but a service provider might lock them

When originally manufactured, all GSM cell phones are unlocked. That is, they can be used with any SIM from any cellphone service provider - always assuming, of course, that the cellphone service provider has compatible GSM service on the same frequency bands that the phone can operate on.

Most cell phone service providers electronically 'lock' the phone so that it can only be used with their service. There are obvious reasons why they choose to do this - in particular, to force you to pay what are usually very high roaming charges when you take your phone out of their network and use it elsewhere in the world.

Fortunately, this locking is reversible. With some phones, it is possible to simply enter an unlocking password code into the phone and it is immediately then unlocked. Other phones need to be connected up to a special unlocking data terminal.

Your phone has to be unlocked by the carrier. LG, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Nokia and most of their ilk, will not give consumers the unlock codes but don't despair.

A PUK (PIN Unlock Key) code is required to unlock SIM cards that have become locked following three successive incorrect PIN entries. If your SIM card becomes locked, you will need to get a PUK code from your carrier. For example, if you have AT&T to unlock your SIM card, you can obtain your phone's PUK code from AT&T by:

? logging in to your my wireless Account online
? using their Technical Support Chat
? calling Customer Care at 1-800-331-0500

To get your phone's PUK code online from ATT:

? Log in to your my wireless Account.
? Select My Services under My Account.
? From the My Services screen, select My Phone/Device.
? Select Unblock SIM Card.
? The Unblock SIM screen will display your PUK code.

Once you receive your PUK code, you will need to enter it into your phone to set a new PIN code.

Note: If you enter the wrong ATT PUK code 10 times in a row, your SIM card will be invalidated, and you will need to purchase a new SIM Card. The phone will display the following error: "PUK blocked call operator."

There are three other ways to unlock a phone:

? The carrier will unlock the phone for you at one of its retail outlets;
? You can do it yourself by clicking on this link Free Unlock Codes ,
? Pay $3.89 at the following website: www.theunlockshack.com/. I have absolutely no affiliation or relationship with The Unlock Shack or its principals.

I trust that this is helpful and solves your problem. All the best

I want unlock code of LG Reliance RD3510 for use tata cdma sim

Unlocking your LG cell phone allows you to use it with additional carriers and SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards, anywhere in the world. Expand your flexibility or travel options by learning how to unlock your existing LG cell phone at home. Whether you are switching carriers and want to take your phone with you, or you want to purchase an LG phone from another carrier, you can have your phone up and running in a few minutes.
Power your LG phone off. Remove SIM card and replace with nonworking, locked SIM card from any other carrier. Power your phone on.
  • Step 2 Wait for phone screen to display "Phone restricted." Select "Cancel." Wait for phone to display "Phone registration code."
  • Step 3 Enter 16-digit unlock code using your keypad. Select "OK." Restart phone to verify that your phone is now unlocked

  • Many users of CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) phones will wish to unlock their phones for various reasons, from saving on phone bills when travelling abroad, to buying a second-hand phone that may be locked, or for switching from one service provider to another. Unlocking CDMA phones, which do not have a SIM card, is similar to reprogramming the entire phone.
Step 1 Get the unlock code or MSL (Master Subsidiary Lock) from the mobile service provider. The customer care representative will be able to obtain the code.
  • Step 2 Download the software to be used in generating the code. It's available on various websites (see Resources).
  • Step 3 Obtain the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number of the cell phonemag-glass_10x10.gif. Switch off the phone in order to locate this number, which is at the back of the phone underneath the battery. It's usually 15-17 digits and the slashes and the letters are not included. In case the label is unreadable or the phone is not available, check the manufacturer's white sticker on the packaging.
  • Step 4 Use the software that you have downloaded to key in the model of the particular phone. Put back the battery and switch on the phone.
  • Step 5 Key in the code immediately after switching the phone. It's important to note that spaces in the code should be ignored. In cases of # symbols the procedure is as follows: press the * key two times to get a '+', three times to get a 'p' and four times for 'w'.
  • Step 6 When you are through with keying in the code, a message saying 'Restriction off' will appear on the screen depending on the model of the phone. If no message appears, try entering another code. If a message saying 'Cannot undo restrictions' appears, that means the phone is hard-locked.

The phone is locked to your carrier. An unlock code must be entered to use the SIM of another carrier in the phone. Check with boost for an unlock code. There are also tons of unlock calculatrs out there, but be careful ... if the wrong code isentered too many times the phone will be permanently locked to boost.
