Blower fan has fluff on stuck to it. It may even be disstorted. If you are really unlucky then it's done the blower fan motor bearings as well.

A burning smell inside the drum when I use the gas dryer

The burning smell is usually one of two things. If it smells like burning rubber the dryer belt is on its last leg and is slipping or stuck. If you are a diy'er the replacement of the belt is more time consuming than difficult. If it just a burning smell, then it is most likely lint built up inside the exhaust. You'll need to scoot the dryer out and get behind it to take off the dryer hose that vents from the dryer to the outside. Take off both ends for the most convenient and thorough cleaning. You'll need to blow out the hose with an air compressor and/or push a cylindrical brush through the hose or a rag on the end of a long stick. Be care not to puncture the hose! Once done, you are not finished cleaning. The back panel of the dryer needs to be removed to access the exhaust's internal pathway. You can try to clean it from the lint trap and the place in the rear where the dryer hose attaches, but be aware that cleaning cannot remove all the lint stuck to the exhaust pathway lining. At Home Depot, Lowe's or Menard's they sell brushes on wire, etc to clean the dryer's inside exhaust pathway.

Hope this helps!!

My kenmore elite dryer that i bought 2 years ago lint trap corner is catching my clothes and tearing them. we had it replaced and its doing it again. I am tired of messing with it. Please help.

don't know if you already had this fixed, usually this is caused by not having your dryer cleaned out,the lint builds up inside the duct that the lint filter slides down into and has to be removed and cleaned out.also in some of the kenmore dryer ducts there's a metal clip inside the duct that can come loose and hold the lint filter up.these are the two most likely causes for this to happen.

My dryers smells like its burning and inside when drying gets really too hot. The air vent going outside is clean. I took off the casing and cleaned the inside of the dryer. The belt seems like its ok....

Lint burns quickly and rarely holds a flame long enough to cause a fire hazard. Metal burning would probably indicate friction on spinning metal, like the motor shaft, or the drum rollers. Plastic/rubber are usually parts that are intended to wear, and can usually be replaced.

Along with the belt, you should also check the idler pulley that takes up the slack in the belt, as well as any drum rollers or nylon glides on the top of the dryer door where the drum rides. Metal, plastic, and lint have distinct smells, and you should be able to determine which one(s) you have by smell.

Lint is a common burner in dryers, and it seems you've looked in some of the obvious places it can accumulate. When you have the cover off, pay special attention to the burner area, and any ducts from the lint screen area. Also, any gaps in insulation where air flows could cause hot spots in the unit. If you can see the flame while its running, make sure its size is not excessive. Flames should not be too low or too high, and should not escape the burner housing.

If you notice soot buildup, your gas/air mixture is off. If you've switched from natural to bottled gas or vice-versa, you may need to swap the burner orifices to match the different pressures of the gas fuel.

I smell a burning smell from the dryer. I was running dryer a lot today and tonight I smelt something burning when I opened the door. I noticed my light catcher was full, could this be the problem?

Yes it could have been the lint igniting in the bottom of your dryer in future clean lint trap after every load and take trap door out and vacumn inside trap at least once a month If you ignore the lint trap you could end up with a serious fire so take care of it when you remove screen a certain amnt of the lint falls down into the bottom of dryer and after time a buildup can ignite.. more serious with a gas dryer as the igniter and burner is at the bottom of most gas dryers

Burning smell in in dryer

Take a flashlight and look inside the drum at the holes on the back end of the drum where the hot air comes in. On mine, there is an air deflector on the back side of the drum and the space between this deflector and the drum was packed with lint. The lint blocked about half the holes. I had to take the drum out, remove this deflector by removing four screws inside the drum then cleaning out the lint. The lint was all brown and scorched.

Dryer burning smell

Have you painted or stained in your house or apartment recently? The smell gets everywhere, dryer, stove, heating unit. I recently primed with Kilz and the clothes from my dryer smelled burned. When I called for service, it was the first question the service person asked and said they made a lot of useless trips only to find nothing wrong with the appliance. That was my case. I had to rewash clothes and let the dryer run with towels for a while
