Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Not sucking, floor

I'm pretty sure we have this DC07, the yellow stand up bagless. The floor brush is not sucking up large pieces on the floor. I saw a note about a washable filter....where is this filter and how do I get to it?? I'm sure ours hasn't been cleaned!!

The filter can be located at the bottom of the vaccum where the motor is if you look on the right of the machine you should see a little yellow or silver catch if you push it back you should be able to pull out the large round disc looking object this is your filter housing once removed pull out the yellow casing which may be pretty tight underneath sits the filter after you wash the filter make sure its completly dry before you replace it

Make brushes turn - band is intact but not turning the brushes

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Are you able to confirm whether your DC07 includes the brush control feature or not? The brush control would be a round dial on the cleaner head which allows you to turn off the brush bar when cleaning hard floors or delicate rugs.
make-brushes-turn-band-intact-but-not-lwqyc41qlbnwv0kthpkl2aqr-3-0.jpg

If your DC07 does include brush control, make sure that when the vacuum cleaner is turned on and reclined, the brush control is set to 'Carpets'. The brush bar will never rotate when the brush control is set to 'Hard floors', or when the machine is standing in the upright position.

If you're confident your machine is already set correctly but the brush bar is still not rotating, or if your DC07 is a version which doesn't include the brush control feature, we'd appreciate the opportunity to provide further assistance.

I'd encourage you to give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call when you have your DC07 easily to hand so we can take you though some simple troubleshooting checks. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Dyson DC07 leaves large dust marks on floor while upright

Hi Tracy, it's Jack at Dyson.

If dust is coming back out of your DC07's cleaner head, this suggests that the machine may have a blockage. It's also worth checking that the internal hose isn't damaged, and removing any threads or hair from around the brush bar.

The easiest way to check for and clear any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc07/dc07-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/my-machine-is-dropping-debris-from-the-base/loss-of-performance

If you haven't washed both parts of the pre-filter recently, it's also a good idea to do this. In normal use this should be done at least once every 3-6 months using cold water without detergent. Make sure both parts of the filter are completely dry before replacing them - this may take at least 12 hours.

This should resolve things, but if you have any further issues after giving these steps a try, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU) so our experts can provide further assistance.

Cleaner not picking up

Hi Barbara, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear the brush bar in your machine isn't rotating. Please make sure that the brush control on the cleaner head is set to 'Carpets' rather than 'Hard floors', as the brush bar will not rotate when the machine is set to the Hard floors position.

Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure it's reclined into the normal vacuuming position before testing it. You might find our online Support guide useful when troubleshooting:

If you're still concerned about your machine after you've given this a try, please get in touch with us directly so our experts can provide some further advice. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Brush is snot spinning and vacuum is not sucking dirt.

if the motor spins and the brush does not, you need to check the drive belt.
under the hoover are 3 or 4 large plastic 1/4 turn fasteners holding the bottomcover on. remove the cover and you will see the drive belt. replacements are readily available in hardware stores or ebay.
if the vacuum still does not pick up when the brush is spinning, check and clean the filters and make sure the pipes are connected properly and not blocked.

The brushes seem to stick and it is hard to push the dyson 07 along

it sounds like it is sucking it self to the floor. you may need to adjust the height adjustment for the head so it rides a little higher and wont stick to the carpet.

A large screw got sucked up the vacuum. Since then the motor, which I replaced probably only 12 months ago, sounds very "winey" and when you stand the dyson upright the front brush still keeps going round...

Sounds like the clutch mechanism has somehow been damaged.

Have a look at the following site which is a great source of info on faults, dismantling, repairing and re-assembling:

I have a DC07 Animal Vacuum It works and sucks but the beater brushes do not turn Can you help me

Make sure the setting is on carpet and not on bare floor. The brushes will not turn when it is on the bare floor setting.

Dyson DC7 full Kit, with one belt does not get suction to head.

Not absolutely sure about this, so your feedback will be very welcome.
What follows applies to the DC14, which I think is similar in this respect:
Stand behind the machine, holding the handle at a 45 degree angle. Locate and remove the airway inspection valve (bottom of handle, right side). Where the valve plugs in there is a square plastic moulding that should slide up and down. Snap that square plastic piece up towards the ceiling. After it snaps into place, the machine should stand upright.
Good luck, and please let me know how you get on!
