Question about ION Audio iTTUSB Turntable
I've been using my Ion ITTUSB for a couple of years now, and for the past 10 months have been ripping a large collection of my vinyls to a hard drive. I have got the turntable connected via usb, as the product was intended for use. Over the past month or so, however, I have been having problems with recording. Basically, when recording (I have the option in Audacity to listen while I record) I get a very annoying crunching sound which is obviously more noticable when a beat is playing or whatever, it's almost as if the record is skipping (which it isn't, I'm fairly sure). I have tried changing the usb lead, the usb port into which the device is plugged, the stylus (twice). I've even swapped the slipmats just in case it was a static issue! The records are scrupulously cleaned before recording so it isn't dirt on the record (and I've recorded a few less clean ones and not had this problem, even ones that where scratched wheren't doing this). I've ordered some new styluses of the internet, just in case the replacements I was using wheren't good enough, but wondered if anyone has a clue what could be the problem?
I'm running XP, and using Audacity 1.2.6.
I get the feeling it is an issue with sending the info from the stylus to the computer, rather than a problem with the vinyls. So can anyone help?!!!
It sounds like the same problem I had. I solved it by keeping the stylus free of dust by brushing it frequently with a soft camel hair brush..

I am not sure what computer system or operating system you are using. If you are using a PC with MS Windows try to go to the control panel from the start tab. Double click on the sounds and audio devices icon. Click on Advanced in the master volume box. If any mute boxes are checked, uncheck them and move the volume to the top. Try your system to see if you have any output. I hope this helps since I did not see any recommendations to check the master volume mixer.
