This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount (which are pretty simple problems to fix) or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type from us for $5 postpaid.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

My ifb microwave oven is getting hot outside while

Normally when u cook food in microwave the fod is cooked by microwaves, which means the heat is generated with in food. The temperature inside is never too hot and all the heat produced is absorbed with in the food.

On the other hand when the grill is switched on, a separate heatting element gets switched on. You can see this red hot element on the top side of inside of microwave. the heat from this element gets transferred to food through air circulation. But partof heat also gets transferred to the walls of microwave oven. This is the reason the wall feel hot during use of grill.

As i see ther is no problem with the microwave itself. Jut kep delicate thngs a bit away from the microwave.

Microwave seems to run, but won't heat.

We have a similar problem! It sounds like a problem with the microswitch inside the unit that the door is suppose to engage when closed. If not engaged properly, it will not cook. We had the switch replaced last March but it has started acting up again. We can press in on the door and/or lift it slightly and it will cook. Try putting time on the counter and hit start. It the word "cook" appears then try moving the door slightly and see if the turntable starts turning. If not, then you may have a more serious problem. Good luck!

Fan/ heating element won't turn on

You may have a bad internal fuse or thermosensor. Take off the key panel. look for fuses. Also the sensor is black, about the diameter of a dime and 3/8 inch thick with two wires...attached to the oven wall. Check for continuity. Quick check, remove wires, connect with a paper clip tape up and try. Do not run with the sensor out of the circuit except to test.

Panasonic Microwave NN-A770S getting hot on right side externally

If you described this to Panasonic very carefully, and they said it's normal, then I would say keep using it until such time that you get other symptoms. The inverter has some parts mounted on a large chunk of aluminum called a heat sink. It draws the heat out of the parts and the heat radiates and/or convects away. This keeps the circuit parts from overheating. As long as you have good air flow through the vents, it sounds okay.

Microwave does not heat.

The magnetron is the device that puts out the heat. In these units, that's the most common cause of a failure to heat. BUT - many of these units are subject to a campaign under which GE will replace the magnetron, stirrer and high voltage diode free. Check the bulletin to see if yours is covered: http://www.microwavedisplay.com/ge_mw_mag_kit_bulletin.jpg Even if yours is not covered by the bulletin, it may have coverage of the magnetron.
