Re: black screen

Replace the backlight inverter, mostly that's the problem.

Re: black screen

Sorry Donna, Any thing that i would tell you to try, you would have to understand the lingo and the theroy in electronics. A TV set is no where to be to experiment with as they hold alot of HI voltage ,even when they are unplugged. If the setd over5 years old, Maybe its time for you to thinkl about buying a new one. Good Luck

No longer has picture - voice still working - can it be fixed or is it worth fixing?

Not knowing brand and model number most of these sets have a 4-5 year life and parts for a set of this age may not be available.

The risk in repairing a set this old is it may just fail again and again.

Black screen with sound

My 47" LCD Smart T.V. was working fine last night. I got up this morning and I have sound but no picture. The VIZIO icon lights up as usual but I get no picture, only sound. From the time I turned it on, nothing appeared on the screen. I have already tried unplugging it for a while and still nothing.

Last night the screen started going dark, then went out, black

If still under warranty, I would suggest going that way as this is a bad matrix driver....

Picture and Sound flash from 'on' to a black screen

Hi, The problem lies within the unit. You have a hardware failure within the board. The power supply board needs to be repaired or replaced. If you are a handy person, you can easily swap the power supply board.. If not, bring it you to local reapir shop, they will find the parts and replace it for you. I wish I had a better solution like an easy fix for you. Sorry, but on hardware failure, there is no easy fix. Thanks, Mike

I had the same problem I was told to unplug then reset but still no luck. Mine have been broken since Aug 2006 and seems like it's so hard to find somebody to fix it. Please let me know if you fix yours.
