Question about Linksys WUSB54GSC Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter w/ SpeedBooster [WUSB54GSC] (LS-SB54GSC)

Vista won't install drivers?

I just bought a Linksys WUSB54GSC Wireless G USB adapter. I followed the directions to install it by putting in the CD and connecting the device through the USB when prompted by the setup program. When I connect the device, Vista pops up with a prompt to install drivers. I downloaded the Vista driver update from the Linksys website (I've made sure it's the correct version - version 4), but when I try to install the drivers, either through the Vista prompt when the device is connected or through the Device Manager, I get a message saying that it could not install the drivers. I tried installing the device on my laptop (which has XP), and it worked fine, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the device itself. Thanks so much for your help!

I tried it... no luck. What filetype is the driver supposed to be? The two files that came in the download from linksys are .sys and a setup info text document. Vista doesn't seem to recognize the .sys as a driver.

Okay, apparently the problem is that Vista is running on a 64-bit OS and this linksys adapter is only compatible with a 32-bit OS. Is there any way to deal with that, or do I have to get a new wireless adapter?

I'm really sorry, I don't know how to unlock the rating so I just changed it. I only found out about the incompatibility after hours of scouring the web - this thing came with zero information and they don't make it easy to find... Thanks for your help though!

Installation is stuck at 30%

may be the installation software is not working, what you need to do is take the cd out from the computer and just plugg the wireless adapter, when you plug in the wireless adapter it will tell you to insert the cd that came with the usb card so that the software can be installed, once you see this message insert the cd and then follow the setup screen(imp thing:incase you see the screen of the linkys installation donot follow that, follow the windows software setup screen) this will install the software and i am sure the software will get installed if the software has totally gone bad then here is a link you can donwnload the software from website and then try the installation
