The sensor for this is actually used for both the scanner cover and the ink cover, there are two flags that both must sit into the sensor to reach a ready state.
If you examine the ink cover there's a small piece of plastic that paths into a hole on the machines frame. This piece of plastic pushes a small black plastic flag that tells the sensor the door is closed.
If it's constantly telling you to close the ink cover inspect both the cover itself to verify that piece of plastic isn't broken and is going into the hole; and look inside and verify the flag isn't broken or damaged (flashlight and a small eyeglass screwdriver help here)
Either can be fixed for cheap at any reputable printer repair shop, I would look for a brother warranty place even if it's out of warranty as they'll be more likely to have donor machines sitting around for spare parts.
Try sealing the dome onto the door with silicone sealant. Smooth it well into the inside of the door so that it will not be caught by the washing. Also smear liberal amounts on the outside to hold the dome in place, but smooth it off for appearance sale. Smoothing is best done with a wet finger to leave a good finish.
have u checked the pump that is located iin the front of the machine? Remove the entire cover of the machine look down in the very front when the cover is removed turn the machine on and you should be able to see exactly where ur leak is coming from your pump is located on the motor small white or grey plastic round like object sometimes it can leak fromthe center of the pump in any case test the machine with the cover off and you willbe able to find the leak hope this helps
If there is no filter located at the bottom right front of washer behind a re- moveable cover, then you need to remove the rear cover of washer.
Locate and remove the large black hose fastened to bottom of drum.
Remove and clean plastic filter inside hose.
Remove hose onto pump, and check for blockage or obstruction here as well.
This should help solve your prob.
Located at the front end of the top cover, are 2 plastic covers, prise them out with a small screw driver or something similar, and inside are 2 torx screws, get a torx screwdriver, and undo the 2 screws, if tyou don't have the correct screwdriver, you may be able to undo them with a small screwdriver.
Give the top a good hard push towards the rear, and it should come off..
Hope this helps.
Try checking the little "trip switch" that is actuated when oyu close the cover. To find it, locate a small plastic tip in the cover that goes into a small hole when you close the cover. This tells the printer when the cover is opened or closed. Should be on the right or left side of the cover towards the front. The tip may have broken off OR the switch is misaligned. If the tip is there try GENTLY inserting a small screwdriver into the hole and see if that solves it. Otherwise, it is a board malfunction...
This is probably a lid cover open protection. Check to see if there is a magnet on the cover, positioned almost to centre (slightly to the right) at edge of the cover. There is some sort of plastic catch to house the magnet. If it is not there, place a magnet at the corresponding area on the washer where the plastic catch will touch when the lid cover close.
The switch is a micro switch that is depressed(and not sad :)) by a plastic tag moulded on the battery cover. Once the cover is moved into position and closed, the tag presses on the micro switch closing the switch and thus removing the error message. As with any switch, a switch is simply open or closed, Open = high resistance or O/L, while closed = 0 ohms reistance. You can use a small wire to overcome the switch by soldering the wire to both tags of the switch so it is permenantly 0 ohms. This will send a message to the microprocessor that cover is closed and camera ready for use. Hope this helps.
