Question about Canon ImageClass MF6540 Copier

Open Question

Where is the copy counter function on the Canon MF6540

I can't find out how I can get a count on the number of copies that I have made daily. Is there a counter function on this copier. Someone said to run a self-test and it will give a count but I can't find in the basic operation guide anything about a self-test and how you perform one.

How to reset E005 error on Canon copy machine? Checked cleaning web. is OK.

You will ahve to reset the copy count for the web to zero. Get in service mode by pressing the additional function key, then the 2 & 8 keys at the same time and then the additional function key again. This should get you into service mode. Press COPIER, COUNTER, MISC, FIX-WEB, then I believe OK. Turn off the copier for about 10 seconds then turn it back on. This resets the counter.

Is there a way to find out the total copy count for the printer?

You can get the copy count for the MF6550 by using the following procedure:

- Press Additional Functions
- Press 2
- Press 8
- Press Additional Functions again.
- Scroll down through the options. There will be an option for Counter -- select it and the copy count will be displayed on the screen.

My Canon Pixma MP130 tells me my Waste Ink Absorber is nearly full. Manual tells me not to touch but how do I replace or empty?

This is a safety function that Canon ans Epson built into theyr machines. Normaly this problem can be solved by replacing the absorber pads (or cleaning them) however you will need a service mode tool to reset the ink count in the eprom. Search google for the specific tool for your printer.

Good Luck

I have Canon IR 400 photocopier. My problem is -

This not really a problem. Canon Copiers have various counters that track the counts of Various sized papers. Long, short and the like. The only counter that really matters in the 101 or total counter. This the counter that tracks every piece of paper that goes through the copier. This is the counter used to track copy usage. If you have a service contract this the counter the dealership will use to track copies for billing. Ignore anything but the total counter.

The waste ink absorber is almost full How do I fix it Please?

It needs to go to a shop to have the absorber changed and the counter reset. Only a Canon shop has access to parts and service mode to reset the ink counter.
