Question about Canon MultiPASS F60 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Canon Multipass F60 Printer

I have a Canon Multipass F60 Scanner Printer that has stop responding when I try to print. I have never had a problem until now. When I try to print, a period of time will go by and then a gray box will pop up saying device can not be found, and to check and make sure the machine is on and also to make sure my printer is still coonected. I have tried another USB cable and still no response.
The weird thing is that I can scan with it and it will send what I scan to my computer, so in that way it can communicate. Also when I raise the printer lid with the printer on the printer head or ink cartridge housing will not return to the center like it should when the lid is open, it stays all the way to the right of the machine.
Can you help me solve this printer problem?
Thanks, Steveroart47

I downloaded and reinstalled the printer drivers from the link you gave me but the printer is still not responding, is there anything else I may need to check or do?

    Thanks, Steveroart47

It still will not print. After following the 5 steps for printing out a test page it makes a noise like it wants to do something then nothing happens.

Now the red light does blink but that is because the yellow ink tank is empty, but that has never stopped me from printing before, because I just push resume buttom and it prints, and that is what it asked me to do when I tried printing a test page.

I am confused why the print head will not return to the center when the printer lid is open, as soon as you open the lid it always has returned to the center where you can replace the ink tanks.

    Open to any ideas.

    Thanks, Steveroart47

It still will not respond. You can hear it and it sounds like it is setting up or preparing to print but nothing happens.

I have checked for for anything that might be jammed and there is nothing. I have tried to get paper to feed through with no luck. I have noticed when I try to run a test page that I hear the printer making the noise of preparing to print, while I hear this I am watching the back where the paper feeds into the printer to see if anything is moving, like the paper tray and the rollers that pull the paper in, but nothing moves. Its like one part of the printer is not communicating with the paper feeder area.

I may try one more time uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.

    1. On the operator panel, press and hold the button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

    2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the button again.

    3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.

    4. then try to print self test page...

    1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
    2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
    3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
    4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
    5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
    6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
    7. Turn the printer off.
    8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
    9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Cannon multipass F60 scanner/printer striped color printing

What you have is a dried up color cartridge. You can try to use the <clean print heads> in the diagnostic tools section of you priner software. (usually, just try to print something & the window will appear) Sometimes you have to clean heads, then print test page like 2 or 3 times before it clears up. If that doesn't correct it, don't worry. Have your color cartridge filled (staples, office depot, & other stores do it cheap) - or - replace it with a new cartridge. You may have to run the clean print heads program after installing a new cartridge, but this will definitely fix your problem.

Is the canon multipass f60 compatible with windows vista (on an hp laptop)?

Canon does not offer Vista drivers for the MultiPass F60. Vista may have some generic drivers that will work, so don't delete or over-ride them in the system.

The major problem is that the printer only supports USB 1.1 and not USB 2.0
