Re: soap door does not open
I have a 1 year old whirlpool that had this problem ... items in silverware
compartment were blocking the soap door. when we opened the DW, the
soap door was open, but could not open properly during the cycle due
to kitchen utensils in the way ... took a while to figure this our as
it was intermitent (both the problem ... and us putting tall stuff in
front of the soap door). Our soap door needs 3.5" of free space in
front of it ... I think it's a design flaw. Good luck.

Check that the arms are spinning.
Something maybe jamming arms like a knife or fork sticking below the basket hitting arm or check that the jets, particularly the end jets are not blocked.
Easiest way to check if spinning is to rotate arms into a known position and start a cycle with dishes in machine. After say 1 minute open door and see if arms have rotated.
sometimes the dispenser doors are not designed for tablets, and they don't let enough water in to dissolve them....next time you wash; put the tablet in one of the silverware compartments....should do the trick. and leave the dispenser door for liquid detergents only.

i have seen a lot of dishwashers that have this problem if they have a flip open lid for the soap .. often its caused by the top adjustable tray blocking the soap door from opening .. i put a camera inside to figure out what was happening ..in some cases all i had to do was raise the top basket .and make sure the basket is fully back before closing the main door .. it still blocks the soap door but allows it to open far enough to get the detergent washed out .....also i had to avoid putting large items in the corner where the dispenser is located .. they dont block the door but do reduce the water flow that could otherwise get into the cracked open soap door .. i reported this problem to my dealer .. and he stated that he didnt really want to know .. if he knows then he is obligated to do something about it .. which he claims he cant .. i demonstrated the problem on several brands at the store to whoever would listen .. some dishwashers have a sliding or rotating soap door .. those work better .. a few have a cut out in the top basket to clear the soap door .. .. the design of many washers are so similar that you might believe they are all made by the same manufacturer .with the same error in design . many seem to have that problem .. when the door doesnt open properly then the soap may become wet but not desolved .. somtimes it does partially desolve in the rince cycle .. i would think that is a hazzard .. you would have soap residue left on your dishes that you might ingest .. the dishes might look clean however so you may not even know anything was wrong ... letters to the manufacturers got me nowhere .. we struggled with that machine for a year .. we learned the tricks to make it work but during a big party our guests and relatives didnt know that .. there we were ready to serve with all dirty dishes ..after that happend a few times we bought another new dishwasher .. but the one delivered had the same problem .. what frustration .. so we sprung for a really good unit from bosch .. it has a sliding door and works perfectly .. very happy now ..
Make sure there is nothing in the way of the soap door when you close the dishwasher.
Close the dishwasher door slowly and look down in side with a flashlight, are any of the rack brackets or silverware basket directly in front of the dispenser door.
Take a look and let me know.
You are not getting enough water or you are losing the water during wash cycle. Is you dishwasher new or older? How is it plumbed in? If it is plumbed through the floor you will have to put and air gap in to keep the water in it. All tall tub dishwasher have to be plumbed properly.
