Question about Ingenico I6550 (6550US0041)

Open Question

Warning 940 The signature capture device was not accessible. It may be locked by another application.

Hello,
I just installed an Ingenico i6550 device in our bookstore (RMS version
2.0.0105).

I followed the instructions in KB article 935588.

When I log into the RMS POS module, I get the following warning:
"Warning 940: The Signature Capture device was not accessible. It may be
locked by another application. Do you wish to continue ?". I choose continue
and POS comes up, but the device does not work.

We currently have another credit card swiper on the machine that is still
working, but we'd like to get this one working so the customer can swipe
their own card and sign.

We do not process debit cards -- we accept them but run them through as a
credit transaction, so we won't be needing to use the pinpad on the device.

Is there anybody out there that can help me with this ? I've looked around
and cannot find anything that has led me in the right direction thus far.

Thanks in advance,
--
Elizabeth

SOURCE: i6550 configuration/initial install

You can find the user's manual at the URL below. From my experience, using this terminal requires active support from your POS software. It is said to work with Microsoft RMS, but I'm still trying to get mine to talk to the computer. Good luck with it.

SOURCE: Tolerance of ingenico i6550 to electrical fault

We have i6580's and they have a theft protection feature that if they get slammed the screen will go black but the green power light is on. When this happens they need to go back to the factory to be reset. If the green light is off and the screen is blank they are not getting power. Check the cable connections. Also, sometimes the USB cable gets damaged which will cause connection failure.

Debit unavailable and credit is working

Call your Credit Card Processing company and tell them you need to have debit transactions enabled. They will need to update the software in your machine (you can't do it yourself). It will only take them a few minutes for them to fix.

HOW RESET INGENICO 3070

This usually means the pin pad has lost the injected programming. Ingenico may be able to repair it, but since they consider that the pin pad has reached it's end of life and been discontinued, they may not.

When processing a debit card getting an error " Cannot process, plz call S32"

You need to call your payment processor and give them this error code. Each processor has their own applications and error codes, it is not that the card is bad but something is not being transmitted correctly to them. Usually a quick fix once you call them.

There is not problem with the unit the pin is the next screen yes and it sticks before then yes okay that is because the transmission failed..

They way it works is :
sec theta at 45 degre is 1 over cosine of theta or
cosine of theta is square root of 2 over 2.
Therefore you have 1 over square root of 2 over 2.
