It will be best to get these type of sets; by any well experienced service technician, of by the authorised serivce center for Sony at your town. A vry deep knoledv]ge in how this TV works and what are the functions of each circuit baor inside it, is very nessary to go forward. Without any knoledge in electronics, going forward may ruin more components that this condition.

Sony KDL60EX500 power comes on indicator is green. No sound no picture. No back light or video. Cannot shut off with remote or TV switch. Power supply voltage is good but not drawing current (running c

Likely power supply failure. Sometimes affecting the series of sets.

Remove the back panel (unplugged, of course), locate the power supply which will be a separate block of components with larger, coarser parts.

The parts most likely to fail (electrolytic capacitors) may be exposed enough to examine them.
Look for cylindrical parts, usually 90 degrees from the board plane, with exposed aluminum that is scored, mostly in a "Y" pattern.

Look for any whose tops are bulging or indeed split open along the score lines.
This is about the only visible indication of failure, otherwise a special (LCR) meter will be needed for testing.

If you find such parts, you might try emailing Sony to see if they have an exchange program on the supply; these are not tough to remove and replace.
If not, try to find a local tech who will check the possible failed parts and replace them.

If you go this route, tell them to add 0.1 to 0.47 microfarad (25-50VDC OK) ceramic caps (under the board) parallel to the replaced parts
This will prevent renewed failure of the capacitors by bypassing the chemical caps for the high frequencies which causes them to fail.

Hello, My elderly Mom has a Trinitron KV-32S10 tv and the stand-by light is continuously blinking and there is no picture, but there is sound. I have unplugged the tv and waited 2 minutes and plugged back...

The blinking light is the fault code to enable the engineer to have a good guess at where the fault area lies.
Count the blinks and tell a Sony repair shop, they will have a good idea of the cost.
Hope that helps.

Volumne very low & high pitched back round noise (sony trinitron)

Many Sony sets use a stereo processing integrated circuit (IC) that causes this problem when it goes bad. The part is an SBX-1637-11 and is available from several parts suppliers. One I use a lot is MCM, and their page for this part is here.

Changing the IC is not difficult if you have some experience working with soldering electronic parts. If you're not comfortable with the idea of doing this yourself, a TV shop could do the repair and the cost would be much less than a new set. It would definitely be worth repairing if the picture still looks good to you.

Sound but no picture

I suspect a Vertical failure in your Sony TV. This problem is pretty common and is relatively easy to repair. Often, this involves replacing the Vertical IC which is not that expensive. Basic knowledge of electronic circuitry and components, use of a soldering iron and an electronics part shop near you is all that is required. Of course standard safety precautions apply when working with HV such as in your TV.

Should you not be comfortable performing a do-it-yourself, perhaps you may need to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
