Question about Sony PFM-42V1 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
Hello Shaundolphin, I've seen you posting useful information for other users on this website and that you have lots of experience with Sony plasma TVs. I am technically capable, able to repair the boards but I need to be pushed in the right direction so I was hoping you can help me fix my TV.
My Sony PFM-42V1 looks ok on the upper half of the screen but the lower part will display an image that is a blurry ghost image of the top half. I opened the unit and found capacitor C12 (47uF, 350V) on the ZSUS board blown up. I replaced that capacitor and turned on the unit. The problem was still there and after about 30 min of work, I noticed that a crack showed up on the side of the new capacitor I've put in and that the heatsinks of IC4 (on ZSUS board) and IC12 (on YSUS board) were extremly hot.
I've used a multimeter to check the pins of these 2 ICs, the transistors, diodes and fuses on the ZSUS and YSUS boards but I didn't find anything suspicious.
Please let me know what else I should check/replace or anything else that you might need to diagnose the problem.
The Sony Plasma designe not to repair at component level your problem I believe in YSUS PCB you can adjust a few variables resistors on this PCB make sure to mark on the spot before turn you can alway go back to original point, set your plasma on normal channel turn the variable resistor slowly and observe the picture any spot will effect the picture if you can not adjust you need to replace a new PCB
Let me know how you go
