First check for 240volts at the incoming power, then depending the kenmore number (as in who produced it for sears) if its a 110.xxxxxxxx its a whirlpool, then unplug it and remove 9 hex screws on the back and test the thermal fuse,it has 2 terminals and is 1" long by 1/4" wide and is white in color,it should show 0 ohms, otherwise bypass it for testing by jumping c(touching wires together) and plugging it back in,if it then heats replace this thermal fuse, make sure vents are clean and free of lint as this will overheat dryer and cause thermal fuse to open
