Leaf Hog trouble

I accidentally sucked up my dogs hollow rubber play toy and was unable to turn it off quick enough - it made it almost thru I had to pull it out with needle nose pliers then when I started it back up it made a funny noise so I shut it off right away - when I went to turn it back on nothing - I let it sit for an hour and still it will not work - I am afraid I fried the motor? And getting this fixed would probably almost cost as much as a new hog?

I sucked up my son's rubber sandal. After shutting off the motor, it won't turn back on. Any suggestions?

Similar thing happened. Took unit apart and found small fuse...having difficulty finding a replacement fuse...but if I can, it beats buying a new unit.

The carbon brushes wear out after a few years .B&D does not carry replacements . I took out one of the old brushes and found an exact replacement at an electronics parts surplus store . The replacement didn't have the little endcap on it so I used the ones from the old brushes and pigtailed the connector wire .
Its been working fine since !

BTW once you get the screws out of the case to split the shell and gain access to the motor take a hacksaw or a dremel tool to the screwheads to cut a slot so that a regular screwdriver works ! The screwheads are torqx and unless you have that type screwdriver very hard to get out !

Open motor case with proper hex screwdriver.

There is a fuse in the wires running through the handle. It is likely the problem. It is easily replaced.

One note...in my first post, I referred to a fuse. It is actually a relay and doesn't need to be replaced.

Trouble with my bv4000 black and decker leaf hog.vacuum is weak and lacks power

Check and clean filter. If electric check brushes for proper motor operation. If battery is used, make sure it is charging properly. A bad battery will not work unit properly.

Leaf Hog stopped operating

The plug then the cord. There is allot of stress where the cord enters the unit. if it looks worn you can rewire a new cord on it.

Black and decker leaf hog on off switch schematic Switch doesn't engage

Take out all the screws. Gently remove half of the case. Put a shim in behind the plastic pivot that rocks the switch. I rolled up a 1/2" by 3" piede of duct tape and jammed into the back of the oval socket for the rocker. This pushes the rocker against the switch hard enough so that it rocks the switch properly. Snap the case into place and test the switch before you put the screws back in to make sure it is now working properly.
