SOURCE: Older Maytag Washing Machine - Top Loading "Heavy Duty" model

There is a screw near the base of the agitator. If it is missing replace it with a stainless steel screw. If this is a machine that is older than 25 years, you will have to replace the rubber ring on the agitator shaft.

SOURCE: How to remove the washer cycle selection/start-stop knob on a Whilpool Heavy Duty Thin Twin stacked washer dryer

I believe the selector knob on a Whirpool just has to be turned counter-clockwise with the selector pushed in. It will spin off the shaft and then the outer indicator dial will pull off. The shaft also has a keyed slot that will only allow the dial to be removed and installed one way, so there should be no question as to how it goes back on.

Was there a reason as to why you are removing the washer selector knob? If this is a simple matter of replacing a broken water temperature selector, you shouldn't have to remove any of the control knobs to gain access to the selector. The entire front panel comes off by removing the screws holding it in place. That way you can access the broken selector from behind the front panel much easier. Just remove the panel right above the washer top (under the dryer) and it should expose the front panel mounting screws. Remove these screws and the front panel comes off. Just make sure the unit is unplugged before you begin. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hoover 210 Heavy Duty Washing Machine timer grinding and vibrating...how easy is it to replace?

Make sure you have the right replacement part when you try to replace it. Take a picture from all angles before you disconnect anything. label each wire along with a sequence starting from a reference point. Double check. Then start to remove wires from the timer. Remove the timer and fit the new one. Replace all connections using the labels you placed. Double check with reference to the pictures.

I can't find the filter location for Hoover 202M 5.5kg washing machine. Can you pls help.

The filter is in the agitator. Remove the agitator cap, and you will find it down there. The filter is pretty much useless. Even though you might get some lint in the filter, if it wasn't there the lint would go down the drain. This machine has a neutral drain feature where the lint gets pumped out with the rinse water before the bowl turns, so preventing the lint from being stirred up nd put through the clothes. Washer does not allow hot water to enter machine when you press the heavy duty button. Regular warm cycle or hot works fine. Replaced the water valves, main control panel.

Hi,

This is a common question we face daily. Certain washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others allow hot and cold to enter intermittently. Consult your owner's manual to be absolutely sure about this. If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests:
Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on.
Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel
settings are correct.

Thanks for writing to Fixya.com and I am Aparajita. I will be assisting you today.

We have a Hoover select 1500 washing machine. It still washes and rinses ok, but doesn't then move onto the spin cycle. But I can manually set the dial to spin and restart it. It then spins fine. I assume...

Could be but also could be rinse water valve not operating due to faulty solonoid. it does a final rinse / softner before spinning if valve faulty then no spin advance....
