Question about Creative Labs Zen Micro MP3 Player

OKay so i'm currently on my third zen product in less than a year. I own a zen microphoto right now (upgraded after having problems with the last two zen micros) and the problem seems to be the sound. I do not have sound in one of the headphones... therefore i guess it's safe to assume that I have a headphone jack problem. Okay awesome. Now what?? creative is next to impossible to get a hold of and I bought this product in Toronto and I'm living in Calgary now... so how do i get help? any suggestions? Thanks Alli

Power Surge on USB Port

I'm assuming you're not using a hub but plugging directly into one of the USB ports on your laptop?

First, have you installed all current patches for your PC? I think this was a common error message that was hotfixed some time ago, so be sure your OS is up-to-date. If so, you could try to uninstall all USB ports in device manager, then restart. When your system is up, go to the first USB device and right-click, then turn off warning messages. This is just for the error message, you may have a problem with your Zen as well so try it on a different PC if possible but I'd do that when it's fully charged. You may need to do a hard reset (instructions in your manual) to get it to work but that may delete all of the Zen's contents, so that's a last resort.

Creative Zen MicroPhoto 8GB, in recovery mode, the device is not connected

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Computer does not recognize the player

After I deleeted the current firmware I downloaded the original earlier ver. and then upgraded to the newer ver. and it worked fine.

Zen microphoto stuck on recovery mode

make sure you have media player 11
try another computer or laptop till it does find the player and upgrade the firmware

had the same problem w/1st zen, lasted less than two weeks
circuit city traded me a new one, have found creative labs to be no help w/o charging for it.

Solution ID # 4794 from creative site ZEN Micro and ZEN MicroPhoto 1. Make sure that the battery is charged. 2. Detach the ZEN Micro or MicroPhoto from the PC, and ensure that it is turned off. 3. Remove the battery. 4. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the ZEN Micro or MicroPhoto. Hold the Power button until the Recovery Mode appears. The following options will be displayed: -Clean Up : Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.Does not affect music files themselves. -Format (All):Caution! Erases all content!Save a copy of your player's content before formatting. -Reload OS/ Firmware : Caution! Erases your player's firmware. DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install. Reboot Reboots the device.
