Place the picture/document you want to scan face down on your scanner and close the lid.
Click the Window's start button to bring the menu up.
Click on the 'All program's' which has a green arrow by it and that will bring up a long menu.
Go to the top of that to 'Accessories' and click. That will bring up another menu at the side of it.
Go down that menu to the camera icon and by the side of it, it says 'camera and scanner wizard' and click that.
That will then activate the scanner on your printer and from there there will be prompts underneath. Give your picture/document a name when it asks you near the end and it will get stored in your 'My Pictures' folder and every time you want to access it you have to go into the 'My Pictures' folder. You can also then send it to 'My Documents' to store it in there and or another folder and either delete the one from 'My Pictures' or keep it in both files. You do this by clicking on the picture/document you want in your 'My Pictures' folder and on the second of the three menus on the left (Files and Folders) click 'send to'. Then a little menu comes up and you click the 'My Documents' icon on the top. It will copy it from 'My Pictures' to 'My Documents' for you and you can then treat like any other document.
Hope it helps !

ok try this my help you.
This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.
Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.
That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.
So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.
