SOURCE: problem in Olympus FE-170 Digital Camera

Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!

SOURCE: Olympus E-300 Evolt - LCD Screen doesn't come & SSWF light stays on

My camera is working again, but the problem is not completely solved. What I did was to put on the old lens, take out the battery then turn on the camera and finally put on the battery again. And now it works. But the problem with the new lens (Zuiko digital 40-150) continues.

SOURCE: Olympus FE-230 Digital Camera Jammed

I got my camera fixed a day after posting the same problem. I called the manufacturer (my warranty is 3 months over the 1 year coverage) and a couple repairman , the repair charge will cost between $50 - $90...I said I'd be better off buying a new one. With that thinking, I figure it won't hurt it for me to push the lens back as hard but careful as I could, while twisting/wiggling the lens at the same time...Praise the Lord! It worked . It's operating as good as before.

Either use a Smartmedia reader, or download the D-340R driver (twain31.exe) from the Olympus America site.

The C-380L is the same camera as the D-340R

SOURCE: Camera turns on then immediately turns off

Quick turnoff is normally a symptom of low battery power. Make sure that you have fresh/charged batteries in the camera. If fresh power doesn't solve the problem you will need professional service on the camera.

LENS OPENING BUT NOT SHUTTING

Hi,

Its seems lens got stuck in the barrel due to external shock caused, Try out following steps-

  • If motor is running but lens won't retract sometimes lens would slip off with the gear or break off a tooth in the gear when it gets dropped. Try to gently move the lens barrel around with the finger and see if it is moving, but if tooth or gear is broken lens will move once's or twice then it will stuck again.
  • You can gently bump the camera to try to free the focusing ring.
  • You can try to turn camera ON at the table (facing it to the ceiling), don't put camera down face to the floor when opening.

Else contact Olympus, your camera need to be disassembled to get at the focusing ring at Service Center .

I hope this will solve your problem

Thanks..!!

My Camera just lost power, the lens is still stuck out, the battery was full when i used it, I also tried plugging in the charger now to see if it will restore power but it hasn't.. What should I do?

hi
usually camera doesn't lose power with lens stuck out, there must be external cause. But you should check first battery which actually is good or not.(using multimeter or to different camera that use same battery.) second with good battery is any light blinks momentarily. If any light blink then cause come from lens most case. But nothing happen then main pcb or power control pcb is the problem. Good luck with you!

Hello, the lens will not retract into the camera. It seems to have come out of the camera on an angle.

This is caused when the camera is either hit on the lens of dropped when it is on.....you could try to force the alignment but it may cause more damage. there is no fix other than taking it in for repair ...which may cost more than buying a used camera on ebay...good luck

Lens on my camera not working I want to fix the camera myself

If the lens is stuck out then you will find it is usually one of a few reasons.

1. Check the
batteries. (obvious I know).
2. The
camera has been dropped or knocked.
3. The camera has grit or dirt in the lens mechanism.

Providing the batteries are ok then 2 and 3 usually mean a professional repair. The lenses tend not to be something that the average
home user can remove and take apart. The cost of repair also might be more than the camera value so you will need to find a good repair shop near you and get a quote.

LENS COVER STUCK ON CAMERA OLYMPUS FE 280

Hi there,

Well lens errors are very common in these digital cameras. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism.
Check the below link to do a try to correct it -

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

If further you have the same problem it means there is a gear-motor alignment of the lens which moves in and out with the help of motor. This part is replaceable at an authorized Sanyo Service Center. Aprox repair cost is $120.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa

Olympus FE-190 lense

If the internal lens barrel gets knocked out of alignment it will cause that condition. If the camera senses that the lens is not in the proper position or not moving, it will turn back off rather than cause more damage. Pushing on the lens barrel to try to fix it will usually cause more problems than it already has. It has to be disassembled to be repaired.

at this point you may also want to check on your warranty status.

Broken camera

It is likely that your lens assembly was knocked out of alignment when you dropped the camera. When things do not line up inside the lens the whole unit cannot move in and out. This malfunction requires disassembly to fix, so you will have to get it to a professional for repair. There are providers online who can repair your camera, and also check with your manufacturer to see if they can service the camera at a reasonable rate. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
