Question about HP PSC 2355 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Remove and check color cartride error message, though nothing is wrong with the printer. I tried to install the Resolves certain print cartridge rejection and scanner failure error messages patch from HP, but when I try to install I get the message that could not find an eligible HP PSC 2350 device for firmware update.

I've had this problem more than once. I think that I need to over-ride the ink level, but I don't know the steps/what to go into to accomplish this.

  • alist Oct 27, 2008

If it is from a refill company, they suggest to over-ride this. However, I don't know how to do that. I used to be able to use refills, but it seems to be a problem now. Perhaps HP prevents this, as they want you to buy their ink. I downloaded upgrades, diagnostic tool and patches suggested. Could it be that they also can now detect what they call "ink pirating" with their software? Is there any company that makes a printer that does not require you to use only their ink cartridges? Or, is there a solution to this problem without discarding a perfectly good printer and buying a new one?

I have an error message saying check color cartridge...I have cleaned, bought a new color cartridge and still I have the same error, why can't companies just make it simple...push a button and clear all errors!!!

Hi zmoyo-

with your post date of 10/22/08, this may no longer be a problem for you. I hope not, but if it is, here are a couple links that might help. they are from HP's support site for your model:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentIndex?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=422000&
(for general FAQs) (Note: If you try to go to this link from a site overseas and the web page will not come up, try adding "amp;" after each "&" in the URL)

here's a link for general info for this model:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=422000&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

and here's a quick link for a support doc re: messages and lights displayed on the printer:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?rule=33365&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=422000

hope this helps for future refs. if you keep getting the cannot find eligible device message, try first printing a test page (or anything) to the printer. try checking all your cables to ensure they are seated snuggly. try using a different USB port. try rebooting your computer without the printer plugged in, then plug it in and see if your computer recognizes it before trying to upgrade the firmware again. good luck.

I put the cartride in the wrong spot how do i get it out.

Hi there,

Wait until the print carriage is idle and silent, and then lightly press down on a print cartridge to release it.
If you are replacing the tri-color print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the slot on the left.
If you are replacing the black or photo print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the slot on the right.

Pull the print cartridge toward you out of its slot.
If you are removing the black print cartridge in order to install the photo print cartridge, store the black print cartridge in the print cartridge protector

Installed color cartridge all of a sudden is not recognized.

Even though the cartridge was fairly new, I replaced it and that solved the problem.

Dell printer model# A940 50c error

Test your cartridges.

Remove the color ink cartridge then lower the cover of your printer. If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new one (or return the new one). Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge then lower the cover. If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new color cartridge.
Note: My manual indicated that the printer might have detected a short circuit in a cartridge. I returned a month old black cartridge got a new one and my printer is working fine now. Good luck.

Color ink cartridge

Backup mode means printing with one cartridge. If the printer tells you "cartridge failed", it probably doesn't recognize it. You can try removing it from the printer and gently wipe the electric contacts on the cartridge with a dry cloth. Turn the printer off, turn it back on and reinsert the cartridge. If the message is still there, I suggest you buy a new color cartridge. You can also go to the store where you refilled your cartridges and ask for their opinion, they may be able to help too.

The following error message appears on the color graphics display after you insert a cartridge: Remove and Check Print Cartridges . The printer will not print. The message does not specify which cartridge has caused the error. Solution This error message indicates that the printer cannot determine which cartridge is causing the error. Follow the steps below to solve the problem.
  1. Remove the color cartridge from the left stall (which has a blue latch) and refasten the latch. Leave the other cartridge in place.
  2. Close the printer, wait 10 to 15 seconds, then look at the LCD display.
    • If the LCD display reads Insert Color Cartridge in Left Stall , the color cartridge may be causing the problem. Follow the steps below:
      1. Clean the color cartridge contacts.
      2. Reinsert the color cartridge into the carriage and close the blue latch.
      3. Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.

Try unplugging the power cord, and replugging it after one minute has passed. (Turning the switch on and off does not work). If nothing changes, then rerun the CD used to install the printer. Both of these techniques reprogram the electronics, to a certain extent.
You might also visit the manufacturer's website, to see what solutions are being offered for printer problems. They usually have a number to call, in case you need to talk to a technician.
