SOURCE: 15 yr old GE TBX18SA refrigerator. Not cooling.

Remove the screw , on the left side of the control panel , and pull the panel , from the left side , outward to the right . You should now see , slightly to the right , from the middle , a black screw , a hole with slot , and slightly higher to the right , a hole with a white piece , with a hole in it . Now , the hole with the slot , turn with a screwdriver , until you hear/feel a louder click . Turn this slowly . When you hit the right click , the refrig will shut off . Remove the inside rear freezer panel ( and ice maker if equiped ) , by removing 3 or 4 screws , pop off the grill piece , and may have to twist the ice maker receptical slightly , to remove . If you do not see the heater on ( red ) , below the coils , then the heater is most likely the problem . pt # WR51x464 . Your old one , has a glass tube , but the new one , is calrod . I believe 2 screws hold this heater on .. If the glass heater does come on , then the problem is the defrost timer ( the piece you turned with the screwdriver ) which is removed , by removing that black screw and bending the panel out slightly . Pt # WR9X520 .

SOURCE: GE Profile PSS26PSTB refrigerator ice melts inside icemaker

when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing, you could have a bad evap fan motor, also if there's ice on the back wall you have a defrost problem, take off the inside back wall of the freezer where the ice is,you need to shut the control off and melt out all the ice,g.e. has had alot of problems with their computer boards which is a very expensive part number WR49X10152 around 200 bucks, look behind the kick plate on the bottom of the fridge and hopefully the tech sheet will be there,it will tell you how to put the machine into defrost,do this first before you melt anything out or before you touch the control,i think you click the lite switches together 5 times to make it go into defrost,it should tell you on the tech sheet,if ithe heater doesn't come on you need to read out the heater with a meter to see if it's good also read out the defrost thermostat, you have to check the thermostat while it's cold if the t-stat warms up you won't be able to check it, you should change out the t-stat anyway so you can cut the wires going to the t-stat,bypass it by connecting the wire directly to the heater and click the lite switches 5 times and the heater should come on,if it does leave the heater on to help you melt it out.so if the fan is running on the freezer side, click the lite switches 5 times and the fan should shut off and then you'll know it's in defrost, the heater should come on ,if the heater and t-stat read good and it won't go into defrost then it 's the board, also you can take out the board in the back of fridge ,unplug it first and look at the board for burn marks on the back or on the soldered spots, the board tells it when to go into defrost and melt the ice off the coil and like i said g.e.has had a lot of problems with the board,if you need any more help let me know, good luck

SOURCE: Ice maker in our GE profile refrigerator is not working

Ice maker Diagnostic Test:

- Remove the ice bucket
-Turn the ice maker off, wait 15 seconds than turn it back on
-Press the ice paddle three times, this will begin diagnostic test.
-PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ICE MAKER DURING DIAGNOSTICS

-In 3 minutes you should see the rack inside turn 360 degrees
-AND the ice maker bowl should fill with water

-IF either DID NOT work, call 1-800-GE-CARES for ice maker replacement. A service call is approx $80. The $80 will be deducted from the part/labor if you choose to purchase/install parts from the service technician. If not, you will pay for the service call. Good luck.

GE GSL22JFTABS Frost buildup on back wall of freezer and ice maker not making ice

Your unit is not defrosting, causing the unit to build up ice and not allow the air to flow. There are 3 possibilities, listed with the most likely first.
1. The DEFROST HEATER in the freezer section, just behind the cover along the back wall of the freezer.
2.The DEFROST BI-METAL which is just about the HEATER, it is a small round thermostat that keeps the HEATER from getting too hot
3. If both of those parts are good, then you have a bad MAIN BOARD. The board regulates the defrost cycle, which replaced the older defrost timers.

Not getting any water out of the dispenser, but its making ice

The water dispenser on my GE profile fridge stopped working for a couple days. The refrigerator and freezer temperatures have fluctuated over the past several months causing fridge items to periodically freeze and freezer items to periodically thaw. GE tech came today identified a bad circuit board, which he replaced for a cool $300. Ouch. Fridge is only three years old. Oh yeah, the icemaker also has a broken tab which causes it to jam every couple weeks. We have GE Profile appliances throughout our kitchen and they all work great except for the fridge :-( I hope GE engineers read this post. If so, get to work! LOL

Stops cooling ice melts and leaks water on the floor

That model refrigerator uses the mother control board for deciding when defrost is to take place. It has no defrost timer or Adaptive Defrost Control like other refrigerators. This sounds like *********** board part number WR55X10942 is malfunctioning. The board decides most functions of your refrigerator. Until the board is replace I do not believe the problem will resolve itself. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Freezer stopped making ice cubes

If temps are ok, then be sure you ice ben is in properly. if that checks ok, check for water/ice in ice maker mold....Try turning unit off and then on in 5mins. this resets the ice maker...if that doesnt work, need to check for power at icemaker. good power means bad icemaker. no power means bad board.(usually) Would suggest you to have a cert GE Sercvice company look at it if no power to ice maker.

the small pipe in side the freezer the one that supplies water to it, it builds ice in side, you can melt the ice by getting some hot water and a towel and wet the pipe with it intel ice melts , or you can unplug the frige with the door open over night.first solution is better.
