Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I just purchased a J.C. Penny Sewing Machine model 7102FS, and I need the operating manual and I need to find accessories for it (bobbins and zipper foot)

You can reach me at pmonstermom@aol.com, if anyone has a solution. I am donating the machine to our makerspace, for the sewing and crafts room. I want it operational.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Sewing machine: Problem getting bobbin to automatically wind with thread from spool

You ought to have a 3 mth warantee with this used machine, take it back to the dealer and have them fix this problem...in Australia, consumer law provides that the sale of goods requires that they are "fit for their intended purpose".....there is almost certainly a similar provision where you are........get it remedied soon, as a feature that has not worked since you purchased ....perhaps calling first to ensure you are able to meet with the service person to explain.

I would not recommend you open it yourself until the dealer has looked at it.

If they cannot fix it, ask for replacement or money back.

SOURCE: I need a zipper foot

Go to any sewing machine store and buy a LOW SHANK adjustable zipper foot. This foot will screw on and fits almost everything. Yes, it's an older machine but you can still get most parts for it. Especially feet.I think this machine has snap on feet, so If you want an original foot take the ankle with you when you go to the shop to buy it.

Accessories for new home L372

First you need to find out if your machine is a high shank or low shank type. Some are slant types and to simplify what I mean: the foot attachments fit on the bottom of the needle bar. You can get a snap-on foot adapter from a sew and vac store like www.kenssewing.com and then you can purchase feet for many stitch patterns: blind hem, buttonhole, zipper, cording, sequins & pearls, standard straight stitch, zig zag ( if your machine has that capability because I don't know if yours is a true vintage or newer). I suggest you get a manual, if possible. homeappliance.manualsonline.com may have one for that model. Welcome to the world of sewing! I suggest you get a manual so you can get to know the parts/functions of your machine. You will need bobbins, good quality thread, needles of various sizes depending on the fabrics you are interested in sewing. The public library has wonderful books on sewing. I suggest you get a diagram of a basic sewing machine that names the parts. You can definitely get the attachments! Check out eBay too--I get all of my sewing foot attachments there since all of the sew & vacs in my area have closed shop. Happy sewing! I hope I was of some help today. Jimmy

You need a bobbin like this:
10_10_2011_1_01_34_am.jpg
You can puchase them from this link
http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bobbins-janome-kenmore-elna-102261103.aspx

Janome have one standard plastic bobbin that fits almost all their models except
1600P, 1600P-DB, 1600P-DBX and MB4.
So if you see packets of plastic "Janome" bobbins for sale they will be the right ones.

Need invisible zipper foot

Two available, one metal and the other clear so you can see the zipper through it. Check with your local dealer for these feet.
Dealers of most premium brands of sewing machines are under contract with the manufacturer to not sell brand name products online. That way, you should always be purchasing from someone that can instruct you on how to use the product properly and make sure that you get the proper accessory for your model. No manufacturer wants an owner of their machine saying that an accessory foot doesn't work well or doesn't fit the machine properly. If a sewing machine store is selling parts online, you should always be aware that the part you get may not, in many cases, be a genuine brand name part. Don't be surprised if it doesn't fit or work properly.

Every thing is missing

Go to www.managemyhome.com and you can download a free manual there. That will give you the directions to operate the machine as well as the Parts Numbers for any accessories you may want. I bought this same machine a few weeks ago. I have tested out almost every stitch on it, & almost the only 2 presser feet I have needed have been the Zigzag Foot (A) and the Satin Stitch Foot (F). Of course, if you want to do buttonholes or zippers, you will want hte Buttonhole Foot (R) and the Zipper Foot (E). Parts Numbers for ordering are listed for every part on page 6 of the manual. Good luck!
