I have the same problem only with the RCA video jack on a Sony TV. It looks like I could repair it myself. I just can't figure out where to buy the part.

SOURCE: cable connector broken

I stuck a sewing needle into my cable line (to give it length) and then stuck the needle inside the broken connector. I then duck taped it to make it stay connected to the back of the tv. This is a rednecks repair no doubt but it was cheap and easy!

Broken cable connection on your TV?

Has the screw on connection for the cable on the back of your TV broken off or no longer usable?

Here is a quick and inexpensive way to overcome a broken cable connector on the TV if it has RCA inputs available.

Go to your local thrift store or look at Garage/Yard sales and look for an old VCR. Most VCR's have an option to connect to the TV with RCA cables and this will bypass the broken cable connection on the TV and save you that expensive repair shop bill and still keep your TV alive for a while longer.

Hope this has helped you out and saved you some money.
Robert
Cable input connector broken off

Usually the connector or at least a new connector can be put back on. If there is minor damage to the board, a tech can repair it in most cases.

I have Samsung A550 46 LCD HDTV, and Anteina IN Broken

Yes it can be fixed if the tuner board was not damaged. Get an RF modulator, you can pick them up at walmart, and use your RCA inputs in the back. All you do is input your main tv cable into the RF mod cable in, then connect to the out of it with your RCA cables and then into the RCA connect in, into the back of your tv. Or, like you said, you can input your main tv cable into your vcr/dvd then come out of that with the RCA cables, and again into the RCA cable in on your tv. This way you have to syncronize your channels after you do this to get the picture. You know, vcr on channel 3 while your tv is set to input 1 or whatever needs to be done.

I have an RCA F36676ET that has a broken cable connection. TV works fine with DVD player but satellite connection not recognized. Can the cable connection be replaced? Can I do it myself?

If you mean the cable connector is broken off, then yes, that can be replaced. A company called MCM Electronics sells replacement connectors, but the repair requires soldering skills. Incorrectly done, the repair attempt can create even more problems. I suspect your satellite receiver has A/V outputs like the DVD player. Why not connect the receiver the same way as the DVD player and forget about the cable connection? You'll get improved picture and sound that way. If the set has only a single set of A/V inputs, you can cheat and use "Y-adapters" available at Radio Shack to connect the two sources to the same jacks, or you can get an A/V switch to do it.

Cable connector broken

You can buy replacement antenna jacks for this. What you have to do is remove the tuner and it's shields, then unsolder the little tab off the board of the tuner which is what remains when they break off. Then you can resolder the new jack in place and the center pin back to the board of the tuner.

Coaxial input jack on the TV broken off so I cannot connect my coaxial cable from wall

If you are comfortable doing some small repair work, you might be able to fix this with stuff you have laying around.

All you need is:
1 - 8" piece of coaxial cable with male connector on one end
1 - set of RCA cables (Red/White/Yellow)
1 - coaxial coupler
2 - small wire nuts

electrical tape

Take the back housing off of your TV. You may have to unscrew the small nut holding the threaded connector to the TV. This threaded connector should connect to the motherboard with a male RCA prong that should be soldered to the component on the motherboard. You will need to carefully cut
& remove the old soldering & wiggle the connector off. This is the hardest part, but it WILL come off with a little trying.

Now get your coax cable and strip off about 2" of the black outside housing ONLY. Your solid copper` interior cable should be protected by a small plastic coating which is covered in braided wire. You'll need to be careful not to cut the braiding off. Untangle the braiding down to where your cut stops and try and get it all on one side of the cable so you can twist it all together and make a nice wire. Now strip about an inch off of your interior plastic sheathing to reveal the small solid copper wire on the very inside.

Get your RCA cable and cut about 6" off of the one yellow side. Follow the same process above to get a braided sheathing wire and a solid copper wire. Attach this yellow wire to the coaxial cable by twisting the two braided wires together and the two solid copper wires together. Use your wire nuts & electrical tape to secure your connections making sure none of the wires can touch each other.

Connect the yellow cable's male prong into the component on the motherboard and attach your coaxial coupler to the male end of your coaxial cable. If you saved the small nut from earlier, you can re-attach this new coupler to the housing on your TV. Screw your housing back on the TV and you should be good to go.
