Swingline optima 40 how do you open and close the stapler?

Swingline heavy duty staplers provide the power to staple up to 120 pages of 20-lb. paper easily and consistently. The all-metal construction of these staplers makes them an indispensible office tool. However, the way to load staples into a Swingline heavy duty stapler differs from the method for loading most other manual staplers and can cause a little confusion.
Difficulty:Easy Instructions

    • 1 Remove the follow block at the back of the stapler by pushing the mechanism in, lifting the block up over the holding hooks and sliding it out from the stapler. The follow block is the spring-loaded mechanism that holds the staples in place within the stapler.
    • 2 Load the heavy-duty staples into the staple tray.
    • 3 Replace the follow block by inserting it back into the stapler and locking it into place over the holding hooks.

How do put staples in this stapler?

vaduvur.jpg1. Hold the black handle -- top part -- of the stapler with your right hand thumb and forefinger. 2. Hold the metal casing right beneath the black handle, with your left hand thumb and forefinger. 3. Use your left hand thumb and forefingers and a wedge to separate the top black part and the metal casing beneath it. 4. Bingo!

Note: Switching the two different operations on to the other hand is unlikely to work.

The paper has jammed and I can't get the stapler to release

Nicola,

1. Hold the end of the stapler (just above the paper) with both fingers of one hand (you might need to hold it with a pair of pliers). The key here is to NOT pull on the top of the stapler, but rather on the (usually silver colored) part that is flush against the paper.

2. Using your other hand, pull on the "tongue" side of the stapler (under the paper). You might need to use a knife to pry between the paper and the "tongue" of the stapler.

Good luck!

How do I reload a Rapid S1 Supreme stapler?

Hi there,

  • Hold the gun in your right hand
  • The clip shield is spring loaded, when it released it will move toward base.
  • Near the base of the hand grip on the left side there is a metallic clip, free it with your left hand.
  • When it opens, check for obstructions, single staples, etc.
  • If it's been a busy day, add a couple drops of light oil to the moving parts.
  • Insert a clip of staples.
  • Slide the guard home, The clip will snap into place when it registers.
Then your good to go...

Best regards
Mike
