The remote that came with our tv isn't working. We did the following: changed batteries (yes their good), purchased a universal remote. The tv will turn on and work with the buttons on the front but won't go higher than channel 13.
Neither remote can work the tv. We need to get to channel 60 for our DISH programs.
Well as far as not being able to go past channel 13 that could just mean changing a setting on your tv. Just go to the menu and then to channel setup and there should be a spot where you can change your channel mode. Changing the mode to 'cable' should allow you to access higher number channels.
Well, sometimes the universal remote does not give you the whole functions, so it is better to work with the original one. you could fix it thought. here is how. most of the time, it just need cleaning. so get some denatured alcohol and clean the pc. do not apply any alcohol to the rubber button, that will ruin them. put it back together and give it a try again..good luck

You can follow the option of searching the internet for any of several suppliers of OEM replacement remotes. The problem with universal remotes is that not all functions of the OEM remote are replicated.
The remote control that you use for your Comcast box will not operate all functions of the TV sice its a combo model. Your best bet is to purchase a universal remote control from the following website. There are 3 different versions of your TV's model number so make sure you choose the correct one for proper operation. Good luck
Hello, sorry to hear that you having issues with your remote or TV.
First, comes the most common questions but its worth a shot, Did you replace the batteries?
Second, You could try and clean the infrared eye on the tv with a moist cloth to make sure the window on it is not dirty or blocked from the line of sight of the remote.
Also check you batteries once more, also take the batteries out of the remote and push on the buttons as one ore more could be stuck causing the remote to malfunction.
Worse cases are bad remote or bad control board in the TV witch cause it not to respond to the remote. First check the remote very well. You could also replace the remote at www.remotes.com or purchase a universal remote as well.
Only if the new remotes do not work you would call it a bad control board in the tv witch could cost around $90 to replace if there are part available.
Most cases would be the remotes batteries or connectors itself or batteries incorrectly installed.
Thanks for using Fixya.com
Follow the same steps to enter a code but instead of entering code press the channel up button repeatedly until it turns the tv channel and when it changes (dont press up again or else you will have to do it over again). When you get the remote to change channel STOP! and press the enter/ok, or similar button to lock the code in and you should be set. Good luck. If you follow the steps and it doesnt work the first couple of times dont be discouraged, Trust me all universal remotes allow you to set up you universal remote this way i guess they already know people lose the universal remotes instruction manual with all the codes in it! Hope this helps GOOD LUCK too you. Hope this works out for you!!
there may be a problem with the tvs remote sensor. most universal remotes you dont even have to enter any codes you just have to follow the same steps to enter the code but instead of entering a code all you have to do is press the channel up button after following all other steps, just keep pressing up until it turns the channel on the tv then press enter or similar button after it changes the channel and this should lock in the code without entering a specific code. And if all other remotes only half the buttons work on if it happens with every universal remotes then it probably a problem with the remote sensor or the tv . Good luck too ya!!!
Change batteries?Take it aparts, clean it with Q Tips
with some rubbing alcahols in the rubbers knobs and
clean the films between the circuits board.Don't work after this.Buy a new remote at this website.1-800-remotes Factory Original.Yes,universal remotes it cheaper, but causes univeral codes, more headaches later.
It sounds more like a problem with the TV, than the remotes. It's possible that the IR reciever or microprocessor for it have pooped out. It's something that would have to be serviced by a shop, but due to the age and size it would likely be cheaper to replace the whole TV.
