Question about Sony KDF-E50A11E TV
Tv switches itself off and the red light flashes 3 times quickly then pause then 3 times again i checked the lamp door and it seems to be closed properly i replaced the bulb 6 weeks ago
3 blinks is indicating the lamp has burned out. Aftermarket lamps tend to fail quickly. Only use oem replacement lamps for your sony. You can get replacement lamps from www.tvrepairworld.com

SOURCE: CHANGE A LAMP
Check the owners manual for instructions. If you don't have it download one from Sony's support website.
There is an external cover over the lamp that is removed with thumb screw(s). If the lamp has a lever, simply lift it and pull. If it is secured with an allen screw, unscrew it and pull the bulb out. Note the lamp orientation and put the new one back oriented the same way. If the old one gets disoriented after you take it out, just match up the high voltage connector inside the TV with the one on the lamp.

It's in standby mode.
Do a reset and see what happens
While holding down the reset button on the remote
Press the power button on the tv
(The tv will turn itself off the back on)
Now release the reset button
It sounds like the lamp needs replaced.
Please rate this a fixya

I just had this issue. I think this solution worked for me. (We'll
see after watching for a few more hours.) The TV was intermittently
cutting off and then turning back on every 90 seconds or so. It was as
though the power was barely breaking contact every once in a
while. Kind of frustrating considering that it is a $1000 TV.
The fix I used is in this thread at the URL below. There is a photo of the problem source. I do not think you need a new $160 lamp. The problem is a little "switch" that makes contact between the lamp and the ballast (power regulator).
The "switch" is not so much of a switch as much as a thin piece of metal that makes contact with the lamp. See the photo in the discussion thread. I bent it out about a quarter of an inch and then reinstalled the lamp. So far so good.
I will post again if the problem crops up again.
