Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
When i put a disk in it makes some strange load up noises but dosent spin the game at all but the band is ok as i have recently replaced it.
Have you checked to see if the turn for the laser is working? It won't read if the laser doesn't move. Check to make sure the teeth are good on the laser wheel and double check that it is the right position, if when you changed the belt you may have knocked something else off that is for the laser mover.

SOURCE: disc dosent spin
I just solved this problem, very simple actually. Possibly can happen when the drive WILL close, but then loud noise as it tries to spin the disc up. Open the drive up (4 little screws on the bottom) and lift the lid up. If you look on the top white magnet spinner, the bottom side of the magnet system broke off of the disc motor. It will look like a little metal ring stuck to the white spinner thing whatever it's called. I popped that off and examined it, then used some krazy glue to stick it back on the motor spindle and it's away and going now. The reason the drive will not close, is because when the little magnet first breaks off it can get misaligned then when it tries to shut it gets in the way. The MAY be the cause to the problem. I fixed this issue today with mine, hitachi drive.

Don't open the tray when a game is running. Instead press the (x) button in the middle of the control then press 'Y' exit to the dashboard. This way the disk will stop spinning before you take it out.

The users manual for the xbox 360 says to never move the console with a game inside. In doing so, you probably knocked the disc off the spindle causing it to grind against the laser and laser assembly. The ticking noise is probably from the motor that moves the laser back and forth across the disc. A spring may have come loose from the motor causing it to click as the screw occasionally slips from the guides. This should not cause a problem, however the plastic inside the motor may wear out causing the "open tray" error after some time in which case a repair will be necessary.
