Question about Radio Communications
Hi, i was in my car hard-wiring in a cb radio, but like an idiot i forgot to turn off the ignition before i removed the fuse for the stereo(this is where i wired in the cb power cable, as it turns on when i have the stereo on instead of running my battery dead), and now my stereo will not turn on, i have removed the stereo from my car and wired it into a friends car and it had to finish turning on before it would start up, but it started up fine in his car, but will still not power on in my car, i have checked the stereo fuse but that is fine. any ideas would be much appreciated. thanks
1) your CB may provide a phantom drain to ground and run down the battery if you do not have means of interupting all power to it when the vehicle is not running and no key in ignition and radio off. It is usually the powerline filter in the CB that does this.
But the car stereo not wanting to work, it is likely the wire termination at the fuse came apart and is no longer making contact to that power wire for the radio. If you cross tap to the CB power wire a few inches from the fuse block, the stereo should work again.
