Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

My vax vacuum has started making a high-pitched whining/whisting noise

The whistling noise starts half a second after I turn on the vacuum. It seems to be coming from the motor, and you can hear the noise whether the brush-bar is spinning or not. It started when I had owned the vacuum for about two months. The whistling varies in pitch slightly as I push the vacuum around.

Thanks for that. I didn't want to disassemble the vacuum though as that would affect the guarantee. However, I have solved the problem myself, although I still don't understand how. I found when I was using the vacuum cleaner that I could temporarily stop the high-pitched whining by pressing with my foot on the plastic bracket on the side of the vacuum that holds the bottom of the separate extension hose. It didn't make sense as this is not connected to anything else to do with the actual suction of the vacuum. However, after doing this several times during operation, I found that the whining stopped altogether. It has been several months now and it hasn't come back.

Ususally this is caused by a forein object has gotten hung in the suction impeller attached to the motor. the noise flucuates due to the housing flexes with the movement of the handle and rod. the housings are usually made of plastic and something very small can easily get stuck in it and stay for a very long time. The vacuum needs disassembled and the forien object removed from the fan housing...
Hope this helps
Sincerely
Roger

Making a high pitch wine, very noisy with no blockage.

Sometimes there is a tiny speck of dust caught between the top of the canister and the lid. Unlock lid, with a slightly damp tissue wipe around top on canister and then the rubber seal in the lid, dry with dry tissue, put back together, noise should be gone.

High pitched whining sound when vacuuming. Stops when handle is in an upright position. Thank you.

the high pitched whining is most likely the belt and it stops when you put the handle up because the roller bar is not engaged when you put up the handle. If it is the belt making that noise it will most likely break soon and you will need to put a new one on. Hope this helped...good luck

My Kirby G3 makes a loud, high pitch whistle with the hose

I would say you either have something stuck on the impeller or there is a piece of paper or something stuck inside the hose. its not clogging the hose but when the air passes by it. It is making that noise. If you find nothing you may need a repair. May have a bad bearing in the motor. Actually you can also try inspecting the brush on the head. It removes easily from vacuum and should spin freely and quietly.
