Question about Canon CanoScan Office Equipment & Supplies
I am getting the code 2,178,0 when trying to start scanning, with the scanner lamp illuminated but it making very little movement (almost a quick ****) within the flatbed when 'start' pressed - a dialogue box then appears: Cannot scan for these reasons: -The original may not be set correctly -The Film Adaptor Unit Protective Sheet may be put in place -The lamp may not be warmed up. (It needs a few minutes for adjusting lamp at lower temperature.) Scanner driver will be closed. Code : 2,178,0 Please help, many thanks!

You have to remove the white protective sheet from the the lid. Once you remove it you will be able to scan film. Also make sure the lock button is not in the lock position.
Open the Canoscan Toolbox.
Click the Save option.
Put a check in the box that states "Display the Scanner Driver".
Click the Advanced Mode tab.
Make sure Select Source is set to "Platen".
Click the Preview button at the top left
Another thing is this can be caused by a faulty FAU cable. One or more of the eight wires within this cable has fractured
