When the CPU in the computer or laptopoverheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot upagain until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then theCPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes this problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged withdust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use acan of compressed air to do this.

My acer all in one desktop computer's fan isn't working. So my comp heats up. How can I fix the fan?

You need to replace the fan as soon as possible. Your computer might be in trouble running without fan. Just a clarification, what fan are you talking about? Is it the fan from the heatsink? rear or the front fan? But anyway, you can buy cheaper fan from any computer store.

Compac fan wont work

Replace the fan. The system will overheat and shut down if the fan is not working. Most systems won't boot up it the fan is not working.

Remove the power cord, remove the case and see which fan is not working. On desktops there will be a fan in the power supply where the power cord plugs in and one that sits on the motherboard where the cpu and heat sink are located.

Get on ebay and order another fan based on your computers make and model.

fan failure is when the fan that cools the machine stops working.the error always tells u which fan is not working, usually the c.p.u fan or the system fan mounted on the casing, simply check which one is not rotating and change it.or(not recommended) if it is the system fan, just go to bios settings and dissable it.hope it helps

WHEN I SWITCH ON THE DX1000 DESKTOP, IT SAYS "CPU FAN NOT WORKING, COMPUTER WILL SHUT DOWN IN FEW SECONDS" BUT I CHECKED THE FAN AND ITS WORKING FINE, NOW WHAT ELSE SHOULD I TRY?

The fan may be faulty and it is spinning too slow or the fan and heatsink is clogged with dust. If so remove the dust and blow the dust off the heatsink fins with a can of compressed air.
There may be a fan temperature/speed setting in the BIOS. Check the BIOS settings.

Cpu fan > just stops working

Most likely there is some kind of software management of the fan.
Boot to the BIOS CMOS settings, and see whether there is a "Quiet Fan" or "Q-Fan" setting (or the like) enabled.
Disable this by selecting "Fan runs always".
If you could provide the model number of the desktop, I may be able to give you more specifics.

Computer started the desktop icons showed up then the computer fan stopped and green light went to orange and would not start up

Try reseating the fan power cord on the motherboard. If that doesn't work try replacing the fan.
If it still doesn't work then you PC has suffered some damage when the fan stopped working.

Fan

Open the case to find out which fan it is. It might be that it is clogged with dirt. Clean out any dirt or lint in the fan, and try again. If it still does not work, replace the fan.
