I would suggest a

Gigabyte S-series AM2 (GA-MA69GM-S2H model to be exact)
AMD Phenom 9700+ Quad-Core CPU
4Gig 9600 Kingstone RAM with heatsinks

The mobo i mentioned comes with HD onboard audio as well.

Try this. Make sure you are at the desk top screen. Right click your mouse click on properties. When the display properties comes up select the settings tab. Now you will see the display properties and you can adjust tho get a higher resolution screen. Hope this helps.

Monitor keeps coming up with input not supported and going to a blank screen

Your monitor does not like the resolution that you have it set at. I have a monitor that does exactly the same thing unless it is set to 1440X900. Check the documentation that came with the monitor, it should tell you what resolution to use. If you cannot find the documentation, reply with the make and model of your monitor and we can find it for you.

To change the resolution of your monitor (in Windows), right click on an empty area of your desktop, select Personalize or Properties, then select Display Settings or Settings (depending XP or Vista).

Computer's screen resolution not matching monitor's optimum

If you are using Windows XP, you can right click on your desktop wallpaper and select the "Display" text, this will bring you to a properties window. Once that comes up, there should be tabs listed near the top of the window, click the LAST tab. On the left of this window now should be a slider with numbers at either end. It is best to try out each setting one by one, simply by adjusting the slider one "notch" to the right each time, and pressing Apply.

If your monitor blanks out for more than 5 seconds, press ESC to go back to your previous setting, which will be your maximum supported resolution.

If you are on Vista, you can do the same thing, but instead of going to "Display", you have to go to "Personalization" on the right click menu, the select "Display Settings" in the window that comes up.

Assuming you're using the latest drivers from here , the next step would be to ask MSI for a bios upgrade that supports the higher resolution.
